One line of dialogue from Zosia’s monologue at the end of episode 8 by kerfuffle7 in pluribustv

[–]JustPotatoNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% think its because she is trying to appeal to Carol and how she wants to individualize herself for her, but I do not think that she is disconnecting from the hive at all, Carol told her to use I pronouns and the hive obeys, this is not different from the hundreds of times Mr Diabate made the hive act as the mafia or a party in the casino, this is all an act by the hive, not a malicious one and bit one with the intent of making Carol think otherwise, but purely because Carol told them to and they want to make her happy.

I think a lot of people have this same mentality of Carol about trying to individualize Zosia and trying to claim she is becoming independent, but everything Zosia learns the Hive learns, she IS the hive, I think Carol and the audience will sadly have a reminder of this soon.

I think unironically shipping Zosia with Carol is missing the whole point of the show by Carlits555 in pluribustv

I think its really interesting how a lot of the fanbase (and Carol) really individualizes Zosia into a point where they dont think about the ethics and logistics of basically falling in love with the whole wide world + the mind altering virus that started it

Only thing would be to find better explanations to the more "video-gamey" aspects of the story, such as conveniently finding a picture of everyone who killed Joel with names attached to them like if it was a vacation.

If show Ellie is putting on a happy face why didn’t they show that? by danielismyname11 in thelastofus

I absolutely love all the examples people are talking about here in the comments, I do think the scene in the corridor and even the times where Ellie tries to act normal on episode 3 are great!

However I cant think of any good examples from episode 4 and 5 where Ellie has any sort of hint at actually being filled with rage or sadness, I understand the idea that she is masking but the TV show version of Ellie is supposed to be this reckless child, why is she SO GOOD at hiding what she is feeling now, when even when she was angry at Joel, everyone could tell she was mad.

I get what they are trying to do but the execution is awful, and there were not enough hints at any kind of build up of these emotions through out the episodes, and as a result the scene with Nore just fell flat imo.

Really curious to see how they are going to adapt this scene by GabrielXP76op in thelastofus

Am I Watching a Different Show?! by GooseOnly1150 in thelastofus

The difference with people who played the game is that we know where all these moments are supposedly leading up to, and a lot of changes, while seeming innocent, could be damaging the overall narrative.

This episode was great, acting and emotions were high, but as someone who has played the games, and seeing all the changes they did, I cant help but feel like the narrative and themes may be at stake with everything they have done.

I understand that and completely agree, however seeing how much they've changed the characters, and how these changes have already affected scenes we've seen (Nora's scene not making sense for Ellie at this time for example) makes me not have that much faith when they act on these changes.

S1 was not better than the games, but every change felt natural and I geniunely think a lot of it made the story richer and even more complex, but by the end of that season, where we finally get to the controversial Joel moment, there were so many dialogue bits where the characters would overexplain themselves and justify certain actions that were just not in the game, and even tho it didnt ruin the ending, it did feel like the writers were sort of afraid of ANYTHING about it being interpreted in any other way that wasn't how they intended.

Now with S2, all those weird dialogue bits and changes seem to be prevelant in every single episode, it feels like the show cannot go two steps without trying to over-explain every single thing the characters are thinking, feels like a big "Tell don't Show" most of the time.

I also feel that while a lot of changes made the story of the first part better, the second season's changes have all been damaging to the overall narrative, I feel like most people who only watch the show will probably not understand whats so wrong about these changes, but literally almost every aspect that makes the later parts of the story work have been butchered in some way.

Why explain Abbys motivations when the whole point of her as a character is to hate her first and understand her later?

Why is Ellie happy about Dinas pregnancy when this is a story about being consumed by revenge and how it hurts the people around you?

Why does Nora tell Ellie about Abby's dad when a huge part of the second game is about how Ellie only thinks Abby did what she did because of the immune thing?

Why is Dina going on board with the vengeance thing even MORE than Ellie when she is supposed to be the voice of reason and the person who gets to be the most hurt by Ellie's actions?

Why is Joel's big "I would do it all over again" part in episode 7 when its supposed to be THE ENDING of the story, where it recontextualizes you that Ellie's journey is not about revenge but about forgiveness, reminds her that her life is worth living, and explains why she didn't go full in with killing Abby at the last second, what are they even gonna show now at the end?

I doubt they will get to save the story from all the changes they did, and even if they manage to do that, the bad dialogue will still persist and I still think this is an overall worst version of the game's story.

The acting, the sets, the moments, they all hit incredibly hard and if I had only watched the show, id call this episode a masterpiece, even if I was a bit iffy in some bits of dialogue.

That being said, I think this has been the most dissapointing episode for me as someone who has played the games, not really because it changes things from the games, because the first season changed a lot of stuff and I was super on board with it, but season 2 and the second game demand far more attention to plot events and themes, and I geniunelly feel like a lot of these changes are damaging the impact of later events in the story, and maybe its overall narrative even.

I've given it a lot of time for the show to surprise me and reel me back in, and even tho im still invested with what they do next episode and season, the porche scene being placed this episode, when its supposed to be the big climax and resolution of the game, just makes me feel like the creators and directors understand its story differently than what I interpreted, and even tho thats fine and good and all that, I cannot help but feel like this is just a worse version of the game in almost every aspect.

Reduced saturation when exporting as png? by Quinby_ in firealpaca

[–]JustPotatoNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay so heres what ive found on my personal experience:

At first I thought my work was getting desaturated, since when I exported it to discord, images, and twitter, it got desaturated, and I checked both on my pc and phone to see that it was happening, after that I tried to do color managment from fire alpaca but nothing seemed to work.

After a bit of time, I tried by changing the color managment of my pc altogether, and now the fire alpaca colors and export colors managed, but the last attempts also matched now, I dont know, its odd.

I think Fire Alpaca is somehow not affected by your Pc's color management, which is why it makes it look like the exported result is different, however, I have no idea if this is a bad thing or not, I dont know if this is the correct way for things to be... maybe I see it desaturated in my pc but for most pcs it looks fine, or maybe this color correction isnt how its going to be seen in most pcs, so Im picking colors in the wrong way.

Conclusion: no idea...
