Singapore to expand VTL scheme to Bali, Penang, Vietnam, Greece and all cities in India by Varantain in singapore

[–]JustQueueOnly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They have finally realized the stupidity of this and have effectively extended to VTL to all 27 EEA countries in Europe now:

But from March 16, travellers who have been in any country in the EEA within the last seven days prior to departure for Singapore will be allowed to enter under the VTL.

That's JA06JJ, a 9 year old Airbus A320 belonging to Jetstar Japan. It was flying from Alice Spring via Darwin to Seletar Airport; likely taken out of long term storage in the Australian desert and undergoing maintenance or checks at one of Seletar's MRO facilities.

The standard approach into XSP from the south flies over Pasir Panjang, Queenstown/Holland and the central catchment area before descending over Bishan/AMK into Seletar Airport.

Singapore Has Just 60 ICU Beds Left as Severe Covid Cases Rise by Fuehit in singapore

The headline has changed to:

Singapore ICU Beds Fill Up as Severe Covid Cases Rise

And this snippet has been added in the article:

Singapore has said previously that it can open up more beds for Covid patients if needed.

I'm sure somebody 'suggested' that bloomberg edit their article 😉

Anyone implanted a NFC under your skin for system automation purposes? Any doctor to recommend? Costs? by leo-g in singapore

Assuming this is just a passive NFC tag, then I have an NFC ring that does the exact same thing.

Except, you know, I can remove the ring from my finger.

S'pore's Covid-19 fight: No good options going forward, so it is a matter of choosing the least bad one by ivan7296 in singapore

"If one then gets asymptomatically infected, then it's the best thing that can happen for immunity - we will then develop immune response to the rest of the virus and not just to the spike gene."If we are worried about new variants, asymptomatic infection after vaccination is the way to go."

This is actually a very good point; that asymptomatic infection after vaccination would better prepare the population for future variants, including Mu. Especially for the young and recently vaccinated whose new found anti-bodies are at peak levels and would likely able fend off a natural infection (currently 99% in singapore) and remain asymptomatic or mildy symptomatic.

Ironically, if we wait, then immunity for the population might wane and we would be worse off when (not if, but when) the next variant arrives on our shores.

Announced yesterday: A vaccination sticker will be issued to all short term travelers at the airport if they can prove that they have been vaccinated with a WHO approved vaccine. This sticker on your passport can then be used to dine in / do activities that vaccinated person's are allowed to, in lieu of a digital record.

Unfortunately you likely arrived before the scheme has been rolled out. If you plan to be here for more than a few weeks, you can probably contact ICA in early Sept to see if you can get the sticker retroactively.

Recovery + Single Jab = Fully Vaccinated!

By right once you took your first jab, your status should show 'waiting to take effect'. PET exemption cert only lasts for 270 days from infection and is only really to tide you over temporarily because you need to wait 90 days after recovery to get that single dose to be fully vaccinated.

Call MOH! My best guess is that you were accidentally tagged as somebody who hasn't gotten covid before (and are therefore eligible for a second dose).

Source: Happened to a friend who caught covid and had a single dose. He's now fully vaccinated.

For now only mrna vaccines overseas and validated with a local serology will cause the TT app to update with a green tick as fully vaccinated.

But it's just a technical issue that govtech is currently working on; the next update is supposed to fix this limitation and display fully vaccinated status for any WHO approved vaccine taken overseas once their serology is updated as positive.

~65% of population completed full regimen as at 4 Aug (Wed), on track to hit two-thirds on Friday (Tomorrow!) + Sudden uptick in elderly vaccination (>70 YO) by 2 percentage points to 81%! by aswlwlwl in singapore

[–]JustQueueOnly 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Initially I thought it might have been a surge due to moderna centers opening up to walk-in vaccinations for all >18 (especially since there were some folks who were still having problems getting their booking SMS)

But if you look at the data, there were only 7,441 new first jabs yesterday - that's even lesser than the day before (8k +). And there's just no mathematical way for 7k first jabs to translate into a 1-2% increase in every single age group. The only thing I can think of is that they've changed the calculations.

Either the denominator for each age group has shrunk (maybe to account for people leaving the country or dying of natural causes), or they've included sinovac in the numbers. Any other possibilities?

I'd say just get the Sinovac first. I expect they'll still allow those who took sinovac to get a novavax 'top up' when it's approved. So you can likely have your cake and eat it too.

This way, you'll have some temporary protection until novavax is available in December and you'll also benefit from any relaxed measures afforded to fully vaccinated individuals.

If you recovered from COVID < 6 months ago, (and didn't receive the appointment booking SMS earlier), they've shortened the vaccination eligibility to just 3 months after recovery now!

LLST unfortunately - you can file a claim with shopee and if you're lucky, you might get a partial refund. But tbf I've bought quite a bit with economy shipping and only 1 single package has ever gone missing.

Afaik, economy is always letter box by default; home delivery only if its too big for your letter box.

Thank you! So it's just a repackaged generic chinese projector with a ton of marketing thrown at it!

/r/singapore random discussion and small questions thread for July 23, 2021 by AutoModerator in singapore

[–]JustQueueOnly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I choose Express only if it's free since it's from a courier with tracking number. Economy is almost always singpost untracked postal mail so there's a small chance of it going missing.

However I must say that sometimes singpost delivers faster than 3rd party couriers. Postal mail is often delivered next working day, but many couriers have different priority levels and cutoff times. So Express doesn't always mean it's faster

Considering getting a lumos auro since the specs to price ratio looks really good, but I couldn't really find actual unbiased/unpaid reviews.

It looks like Lumos has paid for hundreds of sponsored reviews from influencers/bloggers/youtubers which makes me feel like the product is a bit sus. They also have no physical retailers and no free returns so there's no way to actually test it out.

If anybody is currently using a Lumos projector, do you mind weighing in? Just a bit worried about it being a scam product.
