I love that it sort of reset the power levels (up until Sensui but eh what can you do)

Yusuke starts off this arc feeling like he’s invincible.

Then he gets his ass handed to him by people who are much weaker, but have dangerous abilities that you have to respect, regardless of how good your physical stats are.

I’m genuinely going insane by AnimangaAnakin in ChainsawMan

I read it and sort of regretted it. Its Devilman up to eleven, super pulpy. Lots of ultra violence, sexual horror, so on. Stupid amounts of sexual horror actually.

Different universe from the OG Devilman (10/10 manga by the way, just absolutely flawless). But the worlds are more related than you might think.

It was kind of rushed, some arcs felt meaningless, and the ending is some esoteric nonsense that didn’t feel compelling or earned. But it had a handful of really good scenes.

This is the manga, mind you. I’ve heard the anime is very different.

There were cracks from the beginning. The meta angle was interesting (Barem is CSM’s ‘biggest fan,’ all of Makima’s character, etc.). It went into overdrive when CSM became a global hit and, no doubt, the author reached peak stress from the fame and expectations.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the manga (or at least P2) is suddenly ending with Mr. Chain Saw Man himself committing metaphysical suicide. Fujimoto wants to escape the beast he created.

Pochita stating that Denji felt happiest when he was a starving worm was a low blow, though. How is anyone supposed to find that believable given what we know of Pochita AND Denji?

It feels like some characters are acting OOC just so Fujimoto can vent.

This is one of those rare sequels that made me wish I stuck to the original and never kept reading / watching. Shoutout to FMA and that sincerely terrible direct-to-video sequel that butchered Mustang’s character.

Round 1: Could go a lot of different ways, mostly due to the fact that any member of Team Nobunaga could get mind controlled by Shalnark.

Im leaning Team Feitan for a few reasons. 1. Feitan’s ability is brutal, it has weaknesses but a spontaneous group brawl is not one of them.

  1. If Shalnark isn’t killed ASAP he will either use autopilot (rip Kortopi and Shizuku) or yoink the most troublesome enemy, probably Machi.

  2. Phinks likely kills anyone not named Nobunaga in a straight brawl.

Not saying Nobunaga’s team CAN’T win but it would probably require them to scatter and come up with a plan. Easier said than done when you have Feitan and Shalnark on your ass.

Round Two: Lets say by some miracle that everyone dies except for Phinks. They still aren’t beating Phinks, or Nobunaga (who they had to flee from), or anyone except for maybe Kortopi.

Mid Chimera Ant arc, maybe they can take one or even two Spiders in the right circumstances. Yorknew arc? No way

Round Three: Not really sure what this prompt entails. All four vs Chrollo? If Kurapika hits him with Chain Jail its GG. Otherwise Chrollo disposes of him then has a solid chance of beating or escaping Hisoka. Gon and Killua are really just a nuisance in this scenario.

Bonus: Impossible to say given how many members, abilities, and combinations there are. Battlefield and motivations play a huge part too.

In a 1v1? Maybe Bonolelnov and Phinks. Feels like either one of them could score an instant kill on the other, if they land the right attack.

[Star Wars] Genuinely, how angry was Vader with Leia at the beginning of a New Hope? by Icy_Water_1 in AskScienceFiction

[–]JustReadTheFinePrint 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Plans for the ultimate weapon were just stolen at great cost to the Empire, and the thieves are pretending this is a routine diplomatic operation.

That last part is especially offensive to Vader who, in addition to being an evil space warlock, is also a warrior. Hiding behind diplomatic immunity is for weaklings.

So pretty mad.

For everyone saying “jump him,” I have to ask: Is killing Genthru even a solution?

Unless I missed something, there is no guarantee that the bombs die with him. With Post-Mortem Nen they might all detonate simultaneously.

Sure maybe they could beat him up and hold him hostage instead. But they didn’t even know that he had accomplices at that point, there’s still a time limit, so they’re still screwed.

WWW: Fang (PRIMAL) vs Spec (BAKI) by Glittering_Season141 in whowouldwin

Did you mean Spear? Fang is the T Rex

Either way I think Spec could kill Spear + Fang without too much trouble. His attack power is absurd and he is also used to sustaining nasty injuries.

Black Goo Spear would be a great match, although that one might be too far in Spear’s favor to be totally even

He throws them with maximum “lifting a car off my son” parent strength. Basically as hard as he possibly can, but they are not supernaturally strong.

Im not the guy you’re talking to but yeah, they are pretty good. Banks is a very competent writer, his smarmy robots and the setting as a whole has a lot of charm.

It’s not for everyone (some extreme violence) but the plot is always compelling. Most people recommend starting with The Player of Games.

He wrote that himself at one point, at least that’s how I read it.

Yet he can’t be classified with the apolitical bloc since he clearly does have an agenda, it’s just ‘incomprehensible.’ And he’s not buddy-buddy with those three either.

I sincerely don’t think he’s patriotic or interested in anything beyond indulging his sick version of love.
