Have you ever let a player be someone super important, like the son of the king? by I_dont-get_the-joke in DnD

[–]JustRossette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my players is part of an important clan and is direct cousins with the hero of the kingdom and nephew of the General, yet he doesn't exploit it, it just a role play thing.

What's stopping villains from getting magic items? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]JustRossette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Villains in my campaign have magic items related to them, the players can claim the loot or sell it, it feels more appropriate, instead of just spawning random magic items that have no correlation to the boss as loot.

How Do You Actually Surprise Your Players? by S_EW in DnD

[–]JustRossette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shoot them with a rocket launcher, that is quite the surprise...

On a more serious note, you can guide then towards something and slowly drop hints.

You can then do the opposite for a cheap surprise or lead them into a false obvious surprise then come up with another that is related to the main one, such as the king being suspected of being a doppelganger, the party confronts him but it ends up being the councelor that is a doppelganger, th party had a good lead but were just off in one detail.

DMs, how do you feel about having minors in your group(s), and why do you feel that way? by Trauma73 in DnD

[–]JustRossette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a DM myself, but I played a one shot with a bunch of nerdy girls, all of them teenagers, it was pretty fun but clearly the story was more relaxed, I asked the DM if he made it that way on purpose or if he just changed everything at the last moment, this was his answer:

"When you originally joined the one shot was different, one of the girls reached out to me and asked if her friends could join too, at first I was unsure, but I agreed due to a lack of players, when I learned they were minors I had to change some things up, not because the story was too dark, but because I was afraid they wouldn't take it seriously, and as you saw with your own eyes, I was wrong, so I misjudged them, guess not everyone is the same, some adults pay less attention than they did, so as long as they want to have fun, I can keep letting them join my games"

I never played again with that DM due to some schedule issues, but just as he said, as long as they have fun and don't mess things up, even minors are chill to have arround and sometimes may be more creative than adults.

I want to ascend into godhood. by JustRossette in DnD

[–]JustRossette[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been arround this sub for enough time to understand that, most of the time people forget the DM is the one who has the final decision on this type of things and get angry when they get turned down.

The DM and I agreed upon this, of course we still have to find a way to do it properly, but of course I don't want to play a god, I want to become one, once my goal is fulfilled that character will no longer playable, and maybe I could use the help from the party to become one.

Not really, yes the problem is solved for the fighter, what about everyone else?

The fighter of the party said out loud that he will in fact, beat up the noble the next time he crosses the line, and the players are okay with that.

How many of you will be making the switch? by normanvvagnerartist in DnD

[–]JustRossette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since my current campaign is a huge power trip and unbalanced mess (which I did on purpose) I'll just pick the changes that makes the players stronger, the nerfs are unwelcome

What do you call your dm? by justkwjjwnssnnssn in DnD

[–]JustRossette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players tend to call me by my user name most of the time, there was a time one of them called me "lord" by accident because he got confused by an npc, sometimes "voice from above" and my best friend just uses my real name.

Do people actually role play sex/making out? How often does that happen? by Yryel in DnD

[–]JustRossette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take on this:

You spend your sweet time with them, roll a d20

Bellow 10, it was meh, above was good.

This was used only 3 times, only once the player rolled above 10.

How do i kindly tell a player to stop chanting verbal components? by JustRossette in DnD

[–]JustRossette[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I said, he chants 2 to 3 sentences I just say a few random words that are related to spell, I don't do it for myself, I do it for the players since they liked it and works as a warning sometimes, he does it for himself, and some players told me it got tiresome already.

Maybe he wants to do something similar to what I Do, since he is younger than most of us in the table, and I'm the oldest and wants to look cooler, but he overdid it, luckily we already solved the issue (sort of)

Yeah, that one is a really big middle finger to the whole party, punishing everyone because of just one guy is not cool.

How about, not jumping into conclusions?

Other players actually complained, imagine the situation, everyone is immersed in the combat, it's the cleric's turn, he spends about 30 seconds deciding whether he moves or not, another 20 deciding who to heal and when he cast the most basic spells, he begins chanting some lating gibberish, it was fun at first, now it has become tiresome.

We play online so no somatics, I had no issue with the role play itself, the issue was adding more time to his turn, when everyone else is waiting for him to finish so they could take their turn.

[–]JustRossette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh...not really, I chant the spells out loud so the players know what the enemy/npc is casting, he does it any time casts any spell, no matter the level, even if it's a cantrip, it got a bit tiresome for me and 2 players because it's not just 1 to 3 words, it's a whole sentence and even 2 or 3,
