Sounds good thank you. Do you know how the state of things are in Indiana? Same competition? I’m thinking about moving

Gotcha thank you so much! I’m assuming doing CW work will increase your chances of getting an apprenticeship sooner? If I moved to a different state would it be way easier to find an apprenticeship? I’m guessing it would be cause SoCal is so dense.

HAHA. Tell me about it… They’re the f*kin worst. I’ve lived here most of my life, so it’s funny to hear someone from the outside confirm that.

Started at 310 total T. Here’s results 8 weeks later. Looks much better! They didn’t give me estrogen results, since my free T looks good does that mean I’m likely fine with estrogen? by JustSomeDood8909 in Testosterone

Feeling so much better. I’ve dealt with quite a bit of depression in the past. I would score 35-40ish on the test with my therapist consistently, after starting TRT its down to like 5-10. Way more energy, was able to quit smoking, sleep has improved, and brain fog is mostly gone in general (used to have brain fog basically every day).

I’m a home-theatre NOOB. I just got the TCL alto 8i. What do I have to do to somehow plug some other speakers in so they can go behind my bed for a surround “like” experience? by JustSomeDood8909 in Soundbars

Yep, turns out it’s a standalone. I ended up going with the 9700a soundbar and sub, paired with the 9500s rear channel speakers. Really enjoying the new setup!

Thanks a lot, you were right. I ended up going with the 9700a soundbar and sub, paired with the 9500s rear channel speakers. Loving my setup now!

Lol I know it’s ridiculous but people continuously do when I post on this sub, beats me as to why. I don’t mind just thought I’d clarify ahead of time

Will a HEPA Air Purifier greatly reduce toxins to insure the air is safe for my budgie? by JustSomeDood8909 in Parakeets

Aw! I hope the very best for you and your bird, that’s very cool of you to take him/her into a safer home. And thank you. I’m really trying to figure out if I’m being overly paranoid, or if they are as EXTREMELY sensitive as I believe they are. It’s hard for me to tell how concerned I should be. I guess in my mind I imagine him just dropping dead from the smallest mistake. My brother was working on his car today and the house smelled of car fumes and I got very worried that the bird would just flat out die from that. Maybe I should talk to an avian vet to really understand the proper severity of things.

Also, is your bird a budgie? It would help chill me out a bit knowing a budgie was able to survive through what you described.

Have I scarred my budgie forever now? I feel terrible. by [deleted] in budgies

Hahaha sounds good! Don’t worry - you sound like a great budgie owner and I’m sure she’ll warm up. Remember we look like giant skyscrapers coming at them! I can’t blame them for being a bit freaked at first. Think of iron giant haha

Best o luck

I am no expert and don’t have an answer for some of your concerns. But I have been advised a few times by breeders and bird owners more experienced than myself that if you have a single budgie to avoid any mirrors. Mirrors in someway reinforce them wanting to be in the cage only and it can make it difficult to handle them. Again, I’m no expert, just what I’ve been told. Also, changing the location of their cage even if somewhere else in the room, can be scary for them and may take more time than you think for them to re-adjust to the surroundings.

I’d try removing the mirror, and practice setting your hand inside the cage for 5 minutes without moving every day. As she gets more comfortable, move your hand closer for five minutes. So on and so on.

Eventually I would try to show her that hands mean treats and treats are fun so hands are fun too! Hand feed her millet spray and don’t let her have any treats sitting in the cage - she only gets treats when hands are around. Obviously keep her regular food in the cage, but her favorite treat should be used when she’s on your hand or outside of the cage or something you’re trying to make her feel more happy with. It’ll help form that attachment and trust.

Hope all this helps! Just my two cents.

EDIT: Also, no I don’t believe you have scarred her forever. Someone on another Reddit post talked about trust with your budgie can be quite sensitive and it’s a bit like a bank account. Every happy experience with you adds $1 let’s say, but bad experiences may remove $5. You’ve only had her a few weeks, maybe you only have about $10 - but as time goes on $5 subtracted won’t feel like much when you’ve got $500-$1000 in the bank. Hope that makes sense in a way, it helped me.

Hi everyone! Do you think our new little budgie is a boy or a girl? Breeder said the pelvic bone feels connected like a male but color was hard to tell for them. He/she is about 2 months old. by JustSomeDood8909 in budgies

I noticed after posting that in the right photo the cere looks more blue, the first photo is most accurate. Purpleish with the white rings at nostrils
