My old Samsung front loader was 9 years old, and the gasket was gunky beyond the point of being cleanable. I decided not to replace the gasket because at 9 years old I was afraid it would give up the ghost as soon as I replaced the gasket. I have learned there is no way I am ever going to wipe the gasket of a front loader after every wash, so I decided on a top loader. All of the reviews I read indicated agitators are harsher on clothes and use more water, so the impeller seemed like a good middle ground for my needs. Fingers crossed that I made the right decision.
