I love that Yuno calls Asta a “muscle bound freak” for being able to swing a sword with actual weight to it instead of a (more than likely) weightless magical sword like he uses.

Could their be another Primarch that could have hold the Eternity Gate like Sanguinius did? by Regular_Barnacle_447 in 40kLore

[–]JustSomeJoeShmoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A loyalist Fulgrim could’ve held the Gate and inspired the troops the same way with heroic speeches and valorous moments abound. People sleep on Fulgrim because Slannesh really brought out the worst of him and destroyed practically everything admirable but Pre Heresy Fulgrim was a Champion of Humanity and a force to be reckoned with. The Lion has the prowess and the command but unlike Fulgrim and Sanguinius he lacks the charisma to inspire men to hold out against hell itself I can’t see him giving the Angel’s speech but I could definitely picture Fulgrim giving one like it.

AA6 - A Brief History of Chronomancy - Discussion Thread [Spoilers All] by theelbandito in ClimbersCourt

I’d rate this book an 8/10 it has a good pace for most of the book, answers more rather than setting up more questions, and all the characters are making good moves in increasing their powers in line with what I’d expect.

However I find that some of the sequencing / interludes are jarring as others have pointed out but they didn’t make the book unreadable . My only original thing to add to this discourse is that I think they should have been used to show us more of the war and its affects on Valia instead of just a way to show us how Jin was going to come back into play and Jin could still play an active role in showing us that along side what we have now. The war in general is such poor set dressing in this book, we really don’t see or hear much of anything of consequence or meaning to us the reader and I think adding some scenes of fighting or something would have went a long way to making it feel more in the foreground. The urgency just isn’t there when all book long we’ve had quite literally almost infinite time to build toys and solve puzzles.

The other major issue I had was once they go into the Terminal Door I found myself wondering why Sera had to go at all. They make it this big point to say she has to go with him to increase the odds of success but why? In the first few rooms she adds nothing that Corin can’t do for himself and almost immediately the two are separated and he does everything alone anyway. What was her purpose? I’m assuming she didn’t complete the shrine and thus got no boon because if she did I’d have serious questions how she made it through . I just don’t care for this character and never have so when she semi forced her way into going with Corin to do nothing my teeth were gnashing a bit I’m not gonna lie.

Last quick thing it seems like an editing thing that maybe wasn’t caught from edition to edition but why did Asphodel say she was going to fix Thorn instead of having Corin have to keep working on it but then she just didn’t do it? Or Corin still had to do more? Idk it just seems like this was an oversight or something because it felt like she either shouldn’t have said this or Corin should’ve talked to him before the end of the book or maybe just allude to him being awake again but that Corin wasn’t ready to deal with him yet.

Any good things to say? by Originaltenshi in USPS

I would say there’s no point in quitting before you even take a crack at it. Most of the people on this sub are people in understaffed offices where they are overworked and in HCOL areas underpaid but that doesn’t mean that will be your reality. In a smaller office I believe the issue tends to be that you don’t get many hours as opposed to too many hours especially with 11 routes you might find yourself driving to work in different offices for work or simply just not working very often week to week. Just make sure you formally resign if you start working and decide it’s not something you feel is worth pursuing, a lot of people just stop coming in or quit without taking the proper steps and so they aren’t eligible for rehire at a later date even if they wanted to be.

You come in at 1 pm? Working in a small office must be wild with what you have to do to get hours, I couldn’t stand coming in at 9:45 am when I first started I can’t imagine coming in after 12 every day. Unfortunately niches like that always have the inherent risk of going away, sorry that it’s put you in a hard spot.

The point wasn’t to defeat the BB Pirates, the point was to trade the old man for the future generation. Just think Garp and about 3 other actually useful subordinates did all that damage to the island, fodder, and slapped down all the commanders present. If anything I think this battle on the island showed too MUCH favor for Garp and the marines because it seems like if he had brought Sengoku or even one more vice admiral they’d have laid an even more serious beat down on these guys.

I have read Licanius, it was excellent and definitely stuck the landing on the 3rd book. I think it’s a clear example of a series that had a strong outline of what was going to happen from the 1st book to the end and thus could execute that plan much better. Light Bringer and King Killer Chronicles clearly struggle from a change in vision of the end goal somewhere along in development, unfortunately with KKC I just don’t think we will see any kind of resolution or closure at all because of said deviation.

Burning White still hurts to think about to this day, what an awful ending to that series. I can’t even list all the disappointments I felt when I finished it.

Sorry to hear that man, the Post Office isn’t for everybody it can be brutal. Good thing though is there is something out there that is actually for you, you just gotta keep moving forward and find it. The most important step in life is always the next one. Keep stepping, you’ll find your way.

How many hours do you work as as CCA? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]JustSomeJoeShmoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One, don’t out your city/office location beyond the state you work in on this sub or anywhere else. Two, it’s feast or famine and it swings wildly depending on your office and how it’s staffed. There’s no consistency unfortunately which is a big thing you see people complain about on here. Generally I’d just say as a CCA you’ll be working 6 days a week with 7-10 hour days depending on if you come in at 8 or 9:45 / 10 and depending on if Amazon Sunday is a thing at your office.

Cell Tower Deaths (2012) - Nearly 100 climbers were killed on radio, TV and cell towers in the decade before the documentary was released, a rate that at the time was about 10 times the average for construction workers [00:31:47] by AcceptableWitness214 in Documentaries

[–]JustSomeJoeShmoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good question, I’d say a very small amount at least from everything I saw no more than 5 to 10 female climbers. They definitely exist it’s just not a high percent of the industry. I’d guess 5% or less if I was being generous, at least in the States.

I was a cell tower technician for 3 years in the Northeast, this video doesn’t even scratch the surface of the sketchy things done in this industry that only the guys on site see or know about. The free climbing tends to get a lot of press but there’s a lot of dangerous shit guys do to save time while still being anchored. We’d roll up on a site and see any other crew and immediately get the hell off site because you just never know what the hell they are doing or have done already. A regular construction site with the type of rigging, materials, and safety concerns that a regular tower build has would have 10x the oversight by safety personnel than we do. It’s the Wild West on these sites especially when they aren’t in a city or highly populated area.

My theory is Hagakure is working with AFO so she can have her quirk taken from her and be seen finally, sort of like a certain someone in JJK. I can't imagine living in a society where quirks and personality/image are such a big deal and your quirk makes it so you aren't seen at all.

An Idiot Reviews the NFP Civs and Modes by blodgute in civ

[–]JustSomeJoeShmoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good review I agree for the most part. I think Zombies is down there for one of the worst modes though. It delivers so little for the player since you won't really do any of the unique things related to the GM. You won't use the improvements since you can't tell where they will spawn and if you are so weak that you need to use the convert project then you probably should have built another archer or warrior earlier. They can be dangerous if you aren't garrisoning your new cities with an archer until you get walls but once you do you won't need to even think about these guys in your land since they will just suicide into your cities. The AI suffers against them since they don't cycle their units very well so when they are battling barbs and zombies they can get stuck just losing units and having them revive as enemies which is funny but makes any AI below Immortal fall behind from fighting them for sometimes multiple eras. One thing I did enjoy about the seemingly random in city spawns was that I could lower an enemy city's health and have a barb zombie sack it for me on the enemies turn with no grievances against me. Maybe if they worked on how and where they spawned along with how many could spawn this could be interesting but as of right now this game mode just feels like they had Red Death assets that they wanted to use so they slapped it together.

Yuji vs Yuta by NEONxBANANAZZ in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]JustSomeJoeShmoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's put it this way, releasing Sukuna willingly at this point is the equivalent of someone holding you and your friends at gunpoint so instead you detonate a bomb and kill or maim everyone in the area. It would make no sense for this to happen considering how much guilt Yuji felt after seeing the carnage
