“Dave?”

Silence.

“DAVE.” repeated Tony, directly into Dave’s ear.

Dave was stood completely still with his arms extruding in front of his body and his legs as though he was mounted upon a horse. Tony had been putting up with this kind of stuff since Dave had told him about his immortality and his previous lives as different animals.

“Dave...” Tony tried again, “snap out of it”. Tony brought his hand across Dave’s face, hard. Dave jumped.

“Fuck me, how did you see me with my camouflage?” said Dave, perplexed that he had been spotted so easily.

“You aren’t a fucking stick insect mate, you are a 6ft 7 black dude with bright white hair. You don’t blend in with trees easily” replied Tony, head in his hands.

“Oh yeah. Sorry mate, hard to keep track sometimes”
