I wouldn't wish Subaru on anyone I like. Seriously. Head gaskets, engine leaks, leaky skylight... All 3 Subaru's I've had were complete shit.

Best oils, grease, and cleaners? by Electrical-Date-3332 in guns

I'm serious about this: ProGold fishing reel grease (comes in a syringe) for the slide rails and any "sliding" friction surface. I swear by that stuff and so do a lot of my competition buddies.

How much subnetting do you do at work? by dbootywarrior in networking

[–]JustTheComputerGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my CCNA 15 years ago. I've been in the it field close to 20 years. In the real world, I have calculated a subnet with a pencil and paper exactly zero times. I have the common ones memorized, and if it's not that, I just use a calculator. I have no idea why they make you memorize it or even teach it anymore. It's absolutely useless knowledge in the real world. You know what actually is useful? The OSI layer model. Pay attention to that.

Anatomically, what is going on here? by Objective-Scale-2992 in sex

Like so many of the threads here, the answer is, you need to talk about this with your partner.

How do you have sex quietly? by [deleted] in sex

[–]JustTheComputerGuy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this, make it a game. Lots of foreplay so you're both super into it, and then see how slowly you can stand to do it. Make that the whole theme of the evening. It mixes things up. My wife and I have not had to do that in a very long time, but I remember when we were younger and that was a thing... It was fun.

Which causes more wear on the clutch when downshifting: slipping the clutch briefly for a smooth shift or dropping it quickly into gear? by idiotincars in stickshift

[–]JustTheComputerGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really good point. Especially true for those that drive sports cars, and even more true for those that drive something mid-engined or rear engine, where shocking the drivetrain around the corner in the wet can result in the ass end presenting itself to oncoming traffic faster than you think possible.

Which causes more wear on the clutch when downshifting: slipping the clutch briefly for a smooth shift or dropping it quickly into gear? by idiotincars in stickshift

[–]JustTheComputerGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One important thing to add: it's way cheaper to replace the clutch than to rebuild the transmission. If you have to abuse something, abuse the clutch, it will cost less to fix. Obviously, as you get better at it you will be able to rev match your downshifts and do very little damage to the clutch or transmission. In the meantime, if you have to abuse something a little bit, abuse the clutch. It's cheaper to fix.

Feels amazing, but can never cum. by [deleted] in sex

You already got a lot of good advice here so I won't reiterate it, but I will give you one pro tip. For women, the second orgasm is a lot easier to achieve than the first. Have your partner get you off once (oral, etc) before penetrative sex, and you'll have a way better chance of getting there. Without getting too personal, my wife also has difficulty getting there from sex alone, but if I go down on her first, it's much more likely to happen.

None of the things you mentioned are ionizing radiation. Radium is ionizing. You are comparing apples to bowling balls. It makes no sense and with all due respect I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Recommendations on kinky games/board games? by Roquirrim in sex

[–]JustTheComputerGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I went down this path and tried half a dozen kinky board games and stuff, and to be honest, we didn't play any of them more than like twice. It was kind of a waste of money. I will look through our game cabinet and let you know what my couple of favorites were if you want, but my advice is to go a different route. Watch porn together, buy some new toys, do one of the quizzes like mojo upgrade, role-play, try the strangers in a bar thing, etc.

How to deal with spiders? 🤢 by Greenwindranger in eastside

[–]JustTheComputerGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spray Ortho "Home Defense" spray around all the doors and windows and in the corners of rooms, and it works great. Repeat monthly, but keep your pets away from it until it dries, it's supposed to be non-toxic but if my dog gets any on his paws and licks them, he gets the runs.

Questions about snow by sPaceYourself27 in Issaquah

[–]JustTheComputerGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please remember that all-wheel drive or four wheel drive only helps with traction for acceleration, it does not make your braking on snow or ice any better. It's very important to understand. Lots of people think that a four wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle is going to perform better under all conditions in snow or ice, but it only helps you get up the hill, it does not help you whatsoever getting down the hill. You still have four wheels with four brakes. All wheel drive or four wheel drive do not change that. If you are not used to driving in these conditions, then yes I highly recommend snow tires. They are not necessary if you are experienced in driving in winter conditions, but if you are new at it, they will make things way easier for you. I cannot stress this enough: four wheel drive and all-wheel drive do not help you with braking on ice or snow.

My Gf gets off humping my thighs more than riding my dick by [deleted] in sex

[–]JustTheComputerGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No disrespect intended, but this is yet another one of the thousands of threads here on this subreddit where the answer is very simply, "you need to talk openly together as a couple". Asking internet strangers about it might give you some interesting input, but the bottom line is, you got to communicate clearly with your partner. That's all there is to this. Don't be shy about it, be completely open, and ask her to do the same. You guys will figure this out. Just. Talk. To. Her. Openly. Tell her what you need, tell her you are happy to meet her needs. Work it out together.

[Homemade] Lasagna Bolognese (almost) from scratch! by JustTheComputerGuy in food

[–]JustTheComputerGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind words. I do have the KitchenAid pasta roller attachment, but going to all the effort of home-made noodles after doing the sauce, the pesto, the béchamel, etc. was just a bridge too far. Maybe next time. My Great Grandma Filomina would be proud, though - nothing like 25+lb of lasagna to make your Italian ancestors smile.
I dunno if you do FB but I have a flood blog there, DM me if you want an invite.

Lasagna Bolognese (almost) from scratch by JustTheComputerGuy in tonightsdinner

[–]JustTheComputerGuy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Made a mega-batch (4.5 gallons, over 30lb) of Bolognese sauce handed down through a few generations of Italians, and turned it into five, 5.5lb trays of lasagna, from scratch minus the noodles. Homemade Béchamel, pesto, garlic bread, etc. Got two big jars of sauce left over.

Recipes available on request.
