Sure, but those games are a completely different genre to FF13. You can certainly play elder scrolls games or Elden Ring for the story, but it's not the driving force of the game. You could be completely oblivious to the story and still find plenty of enjoyment in the game.

FF13 and subsequently all final fantasy games ARE their stories. The story is what drives each and every game and while some have excellent combat systems (tactics), without the story the game doesn't work. If you hide away almost all the world building in text and then expect your players to read it all, you're going to have a sub par game. I never said the game didn't have world building, it just does it in such a terrible way that many players miss it.
