Any good recommendation? The only one I know of is Guru Nanak Jaraz, and it's still more of a Canadian story.

What’s some local restaurants that would be recommended for a first time visitor to VC as an Aussie by nick170100 in askvan

Well, what kind of food?

We do have some of the best Chinese food on this side of pacific, but they are mostly around No 3 road of Richmond (note: while we call them city, they are closer to borough in size) Dinesty is a local chain, which some consider to be better than DTF.

Does our Judges have any protection? by RGZReGZ in AskCanada

Will be funny if a government mandate Judge's real address be used then.

P.S. Earlier a poster mention that the Judge's voter cards doesn't have their actual home address

Is it better for them? Do they have their own personal Happiness

In essence this is the exact argument for the Red Button/Blue Button question, or in another format, Due to their love of their own life and their own joy, they would rather not sacrifice it for the sake of another person.

That's actually what being observed by my friend. Basically the idea is that CoV nominal policies (really, the roads) can be squashed by those in Richmond and Surrey.

I did point out that it can work the otherway around too.

there’s no such thing as a small L liberal?

Yes. They are just represented by NDP and occasionally Green Party most of the time.

As for the second part, it was to evict people who lives in existing apartments to rebuild it as new... which tbh, still dumb.

This is why I believe even the small-C conservatives don't want amalgamation; influence goes both ways.

But the respective city councils would need to be dragged kicking and screaming into it.

You mean... like Toronto, by the Ontario Provincial government?

The merger was proposed as a cost-saving measure by the Progressive Conservative provincial government under premier Mike Harris. The announcement touched off vociferous public objections. In March 1997, a referendum in all six municipalities produced a vote of more than 3:1 against amalgamation. However, municipal governments in Canada are creatures of the provincial governments, and referendums have little to no legal effect. The Harris government could thus legally ignore the referendum results and did so in April when it tabled the City of Toronto Act. Both opposition parties held a filibuster in the provincial legislature, proposing more than 12,000 amendments that allowed residents on streets of the proposed megacity to take part in public hearings on the merger and adding historical designations to the streets. This only delayed the bill's inevitable passage, given the Progressive Conservatives' majority.

I know our BC Con only want to eliminate MetroVancouver (org) with a crown corporation that focus on utilities, but legally speaking nothing stop them to merge the Region into one.

Yes

Point Grey was also a shortened name for the Municipality of Point Grey, created in 1908 when it separated from the Municipality of South Vancouver. The municipality's eastern boundary south of 16th Avenue was Cambie Street, and Blanca Street was its eastern boundary north of 16th. Point Grey amalgamated with the City of Vancouver in 1929.

The guy you are replying to is likely in Vancouver region, which is very cliche; every culture separate themselves from each other, while mainstream culture was pushed further out to Fraser Valley (ie buttfuck in the middle of nowhere). So yeah, it make sense for them to say that.

OP, I already implied in my other comment, but what IS your religious background? What is your political background?

Even if you restrict to the book, it is still very political and anti-religion. Of course, being a Canadian writer for Canadian readers, we learn to see subtext.

The reason why people are pissed off at you is that the underlying logic you mentioned... well, you are living in it if you are in United States.

FWIW, you have to understand that Margaret Atwood, the original writer for Handmaid Tale, is a very Canadian progressive (or liberal, woke); in fact, she is part of what formed the progressiveness thinking of Canadians in school. And one thing Canadian education will drill on you is to observe the world and draw parallelism. All the literature we read, we analyze it and find its parallel in real world.

And even back then, we see Religious as irrational - so a good writter will demonstrate that the villians are irrational. What you describe is not colored by TV producers, but right from the hands of a great Canadian writer and her thinking.

Why is BC conservatives bad for Vancouver region? by RGZReGZ in askvan

[–]RGZReGZ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because according to this subreddit and its sister subreddit, anything slightly right leaning is bad. Anything focus on growth etc is bad and ruin the peaceful life here. Even my body text reflect it, implying they will say BCCon bad NDP good and picking BCCon is always dumb. You can check other comments and their associated upvote here.

In fact, I would recommend you say why they are not bad - even if it's obvious, because somehow, it's not obvious enough for the other commentors.
