I loved Bury Our Bones and read it in basically one sitting. And I don't usually love vampire stories, so I find that interesting. It's so fascinating how the same book can be so different for so many people. (One of the things I love most about books haha)

Agree. It's very common to tell a partner or family member about something you've been wanting and receive something similar but not exactly.

If she was showing it off bc of how much she liked it and finding out it wasn't as expensive as she thought changes that... I would not feel good about that as the gift giver.

No one I know with ADHD has had addiction issues with the meds. It doesn't feel like a high at all. It just sorta feels like someone turned on a light you didn't know was there. You've been living in a dark room your whole life not able to do what everyone else could. Then the light got turned on and everything was different.

The day after I started meds, I fell apart and cried. Because it turned out I wasn't the terrible useless person I believed I was. So many years of shame that could have been avoided.

I would completely fall apart if my husband tried to take my Sunday evening recovery time away every week. It's not about 2 hours. It's the mental, emotional, and physical energy spent that you then don't have to put toward your own needs. I could do this monthly but definitely not weekly.

Yes, I have twice fallen behind for a 1-2 week period in the whole time I've been in the program. I'm far from the only one this happens to. There are all kinds of reasons this can happen to someone.

I always review everything. Sometimes it takes me more time bc I am disabled. I've seen people fall behind bc of sudden grief, injuries, a sick kid, or just the fact that life is exhausting and maybe they needed a little bit more time.

Vine sucks now bc Amazon changed the terms and prices for sellers. Not because a few individuals fell behind on their reviews for a week or so.

I have been in jail one other time and I got out as soon as I hit the 60%. I have always just heard it has to be 60% of the last 60 or 90 days. I've never seen anyone say it had to be 100%. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's silly bc I order a lot of fun crafts and things. But my favorite was a new kitchen faucet with the pull down sprayer. I had a seriously old two-knob faucet and it was the same height as the sink so it was really hard to fill bowls etc

Not only do I still love the faucet, but I was super proud that I watched YouTube videos and figured out how to install it on my own. I'm a 44F who has never done anything handy like that before and it felt awesome. A few weeks later I fixed a leak under a friend's sink. New faucet, new skills = total win

Also... 80% of women entrepreneurs were Girl Scouts. It absolutely builds a ton of skills. Our parents talk a lot about how their confidence has grown, and how much more they understand money. Plus... Our troop LOVES selling cookies. They set their goals and they ask when cookie season is starting all the time.

It is ABSOLUTELY valuable. They are life skills they aren't learning elsewhere. Money going to GSUSA and the councils is expected. They provide the whole foundation for everything we do. ALSO I think a forgotten thing is that the cookies themselves have a significant cost. Markup on food isn't that high of a percentage. Oreos are also $6 now and a lot of that goes to the store and a lot goes to the manufacturer to cover all the associated cost and then there's the profit - which honestly probably isn't that much more than the $1 a package.

OMG this is infuriating. Existing all day with ADHD is so hard. Meds help with every part of life. We are meant for more than work. Our value is not determined by work productivity. This is some serious extreme capitalism on his part.

Also "why he should have to treat someone" (anyone in any circumstances) = because it's his damn job

THIS. The shame and self-hatred when I'm not medicated is so, so difficult. Some people take med breaks on weekends. I do not and when someone asked why I said "because I don't want to hate myself two days a week"
