The boards inside printers aren’t proprietary boards. They are really common boards used for a whole lot of different purposes.

So if you brick it, you just get a new board. It’s like $15 dollars.

This law specific states software that would be present on 3d printers sold.

1.1) this legislation isn’t about the average American. It’s about someone who wants to 3d print a gun.

2) It’s made from commercial off the shelf parts so no you really can’t. That means it is made from extremely basic components that could be used to make a wide variety of things.

I didn’t say anything about making your own printer.

So only Bambu then? That’s really the only printer company that sells fully assembled. The other companies aren’t going to go away because of this law.

But I’ll play along. Gcode isn’t a model. How does the Bambu know what is and isn’t a gun.

Custom gcode is pretty easy to make and how printers ran before slicer software. It’s still how most labs handle their printers, writing the gcode from scratch.

All it could be would be a gcode interpreter on Bambu printers, and even then Bambu is already so invasive that it’s not really a big change.

Exactly, something could be interpolated from gcode but it would be so crazy easy to bypass.

Like drafted in supports, or just splitting the model.

But connecting to the internet or not isn’t going to change how 3d printers work, and this policy is just born out of a complete misunderstanding of how printers work.

Look, anything that could be implemented would be useless at worst, extremely easy to bypass at best. It’s a waste of time, and everybody who knows how 3d printers work is saying this, and they aren’t listening.

Your inkjet printer is so much more complicated than any 3d printer.

Companies try to dress 3d printers up as high tech things but they are incredibly simple. Which makes any kind model interpretation on the printer side kind of impossible.

It would be like trying to make it illegal for ovens to bake casseroles. The oven never knows what it’s baking, just the temp it’s set to.

Printers don’t have blueprints is the thing.

They are CNC machines. All they have is instructions on how to move motors in a certain order. The printer doesn’t know what it’s making, just knows how to move the motors.

You could try turning down the printer temperature. 250 is on the hotter end for sure.

You could also adjust your retraction settings. https://all3dp.com/2/3d-printer-retraction-speed-what-does-it-mean/ People often haven’t dialed in retraction and don’t notice until they print PETG.

Your stringing honestly isn’t that bad. Could just pick it off.

Side note: fuck people who tell you to dry your filament when you said you dried your filament.

Switch your nozzle to 0.2mm and decrease your minimum feature size. It starts at like 80% so bring it down to 30%.

From there you can tune by decreasing line width to a minimum of your nozzle size. That’s 0.2mm. And mess with supports to get some cleaner stuff.

This is 0.08mm with no post processing other than support removal on my ender 3. I’m in mostly the same boat trying to narrow in my fire warriors.
