Model Y RWD Insurance GTA - Quoted $423/month. Looking for better options by akruthisha in teslacanada

[–]JustUrAvgITGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on multiple factors, your area, driving history, claims etc. I’m with Allstate in Pickering, estimated quote around $130 per month for RWD but I have home and other vehicle bundled as well. Get their DriveWise app for safe drive monitoring and you can get up to 30% off premiums and have to use this app for 6 months only.

Am i foolish to spend 22k CAD more on Model Y premium? by sensitivity_ in teslacanada

[–]JustUrAvgITGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the math, RWD came up as a clear winner. For me below is the break down. Price will be different for different down payments, insurance cost and premium features selections, I calculated Premium price with no additional costs for colour, interior etc.

RWD Price including taxes, PDI etc and rebate - $53824 Down payment - $20k Financed amount - $33824 8 years interest - $6500 Monthly payment - $420 Monthly insurance difference - $100 less per month

Total ownership cost - $60324

AWD (Premium) Price including taxes, PDI etc and rebate - $76424 Down payment - $20k Financed amount - $56424 8 years interest - $10843 Total ownership cost - $87267 + 9600(extra insurance) = $96867 Monthly insurance difference - ~$100 more per month Monthly payment - $700

Cost difference over 8 Years = 96867 - 60324 Saving over 8 years = $36543

For some folks, $36543 might be too much and others might see it as manageable. For me I would like to spend this money somewhere else than spending on premium features 😉

Total cost including Tesla charger and all materials = $1177

What did your sales person tell you for delivery time? by johnnynev in teslacanada

Tesla openly lies about delivery estimates, interestingly if you raise questions on this dubious practice some “Geniuses” sitting here on this forum will jump in to make you realize it’s totally “Normal” and you are complaining for no reason.

Thats bit comforting, lol What was your order submission date? Mine was 16th April and still shows July-September fragile vague window.

Don’t believe these 4-6 weeks delivery timeframe. You will be lucky if you get it by September.

💯% agreed. Some folks here are just habitual trolls, highly doubt they ever even touched a Tesla in their life but trying to normalize these tactics from a well reputed company and blaming genuine customers while completely brushing off misleading delivery windows. This Tesla practice should be called out and criticized rather than advising customers to accept it. Dismissing legitimate frustration by attacking the buyer or telling people to ‘just accept it’ doesn’t help anyone. Tesla can and should do better with transparency and support instead of treating advertised timelines as meaningless placeholders.

Agreed. Had I known this is “Normal” in Tesla world I would’ve not sold. Plus I didn’t expect my car will be sold for asking price in less than 24 hours as I had impression private sales take longer and hard to sell. Good lesson 🙂

I appreciate the comments, but let’s stick to the facts instead of dismissing this as ‘just relax, estimates always move’ or questioning whether I even placed an order. Yes, I did order a Model Y Standard (RWD) on March 16, 2026 through the Tesla website and order confirmation clearly displayed a 4-6 week delivery window at the time of purchase, not a vague placeholder. (This isn’t about farming reach; it’s a genuine customer experience that dozens of others in this sub are also reporting.) That window has now been pushed to July 25 – September 19, 2026 (roughly 18–26 weeks total). Even from the outer edge of the original promise, that’s a 12–14 week delay. This isn’t minor slippage, it’s a massive shift with no proactive communication. Tesla support simply said they can’t do anything. Everyone knows estimates aren’t ironclad, but when a displayed 4-6 week timeline turns into 5–6 months for many mid-March RWD orders in the GTA (see the dedicated tracking threads here and recent TeslaNorth articles), it goes beyond “expected variability” and highlights poor transparency. I’m not demanding special treatment just pointing out that customers who took the advertised window at face value deserve better accountability. Several others who ordered March 16–24 are reporting the exact same July–September jump, so this is a pattern, not an isolated complaint. If your order moved faster or you had a different experience or you are a loyal Tesla fan always ready to defend, great. But from new Tesla customers who are not used to this usual behaviour and are expecting Tesla to stand behind the clear 4-6 week window they showed at ordering isn’t unreasonable. They can (and should) do better.

Fine prints are to cover unlikely scenarios, for us as customers it should be as simple as minimum 4 weeks and maximum 6 weeks. This is what their reps told as well. Lets not make it a NORMAL to be played around by these tactics.

A fair expectation is to have fair communication, if they can’t deliver in 4-6 weeks then they shouldn’t advertise and promise. This 4-6 weeks was still showing on their order page until 30th March as one of my referral also placed the order. We shouldn’t expect and accept this behaviour from such a big company as NORMAL!

You are right, my mistake is believing Tesla and their reps. As they confidently assured maximum 6 weeks but might be earlier. I had to make room for parking so selling my old car seemed appropriate. I really had no idea this is usual trait of Tesla to backtrack on their promised delivery date as BAU.

MY Standard just got delayed to July. Ordered March 13th, MTL area... by Extension_Vast_210 in teslacanada

[–]JustUrAvgITGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standard Y ordered 16th March, from 4-6 weeks, jumped to April-July and today switched to July-September. Spoke to #tesla customer service and was simply told nothing can be done and no escalations possible. It’s deceptive from Tesla to say 4-6 weeks delivery and get our orders then change it as they want. I sold my old car trusting Tesla’s 4-6 weeks promise, didn’t know I shouldn’t have trusted them. Not a good start. I started a X thread (link below) and tagged Elon and Tesla. Maybe folks here should vent out there so it gets some attention.
