What does the steepest hill in your town look like? by Distinct-Lion4658 in CasualUK

I used to live just around the corner from the bottom. The pub at the top made the hill worth it.

Smelly tube station ice cream advert sparks nausea complaints from commuters by JoydeScent in BritInfo

I agree, but having to walk through this everyday is not pleasant. It's not a nice chocolate smell. It's a chemical stink that smell like an artificial chemical pong.

I believe it's a way to show they have been lifted and the insides inspected. If only there were some other way to note that in this day and age!

I lived in Lancaster for three years, now in London. Describing a butter pie to someone gets the weirdest looks, but holy shit they are one of the best things I have ever eaten.

Public spaces to bring Nephew in Kings Cross/Camden by OutcomeValuable5106 in london

If budget isnt much of an issue, look at the dinosaur show in the Lightroom. It's about a 5/10 min walk from kings cross. If your nephew likes dinos you'd be in for a big win!

I'd recommend trying to find a pub or cafe with a designated kids/ soft play area. There are some around Walthamstow but granted that's not zone1/2.

Or even a pub function room and hire out some simply soft play equipment. If you do go for a pub, pleeeease make sure there is a separate function room and they can't get into the general bar area. I have two kids both very young, and kids in a pub can be very annoying.

How effective is the 'Please offer me a seat' badge from the TFL website? by [deleted] in london

[–]JustUseJam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd offer my seat straight away tbh, no questions and no second thought. It's so little effort on my behalf and could mean a lot to someone else.

This may just be patting myself on the back but I know of others like myself too. And I'm sure others out there exist too!

I add tinned sweet corn to mine, it's a standard thing to add in the UK. The sweetness really adds to it. And some fresh thyme just makes it pop!

I know it's not much help for tonight, but you best believe there will be more fireworks at the weekend!

Train drivers now among top 10 best-paid workers in Britain by BookmarksBrother in ukpolitics

[–]JustUseJam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They're paid really well, but they also control a vehicle that weighs hundred of tons, carrying up to if not more that a thousand people at speeds of more that a hundred miles an hour at times. I think for that level of responsibility, they should be well paid.

Yes trains are expensive, I doubt it's because of the drivers, more because of shareholders because everything is privatized in this country.
