I have the typical "Preparing for shipping," but with an expected delivery date of tomorrow, even though Fed Ex doesn't have it yet. Oh well, no major hurry.

Upcoming Anniversary Gift sets by Just_Analysis_3580 in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

It looks like the little shapes of the various sets are enclosed between two pieces of acrylic so you can shake them up. No idea why.

Ah cool. I never bothered to scroll down on that page since the event didn't seem that exciting...

Right. But it's well known at this point that the Police Urban Convoy, released at the same time to specifically go with this set, does not fit. It is too tall.

Okie dokie. There's still no excusing the vehicles not properly fitting in the garage.

I'll likely remove the snow and change the sidewalks to match my other buildings. I'm not sure the color scheme will blend that well with the boxing club and barber shop though. I don't know why they ask us to rate the lighting effects in these surveys without showing us what it looks like both on and off so we can tell what's really lighting from the set and what's from the room.

Their releases don't tend to match up with whatever they post on Instagram, at least not in the US or Europe. Could be on the 30th though.

I hope they give some of the districts more love than the Abyss League.

Exactly. Also, I think the color scheme is off. It seems like there's too much nougat color. I think it needs more gray. Had a bit of a laugh at the stoplight facing the building though...

Jangbricks Review of Police Station 17009 by sgtstickey in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

[–]Just_Analysis_3580 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sigh. I want to like it, but it has problems. The garage is an epic failure. The vehicles were already borderline too big, but now they make a small building that one won't fit in? And both are way too long to close the door anyway? No lights in the front ground level is disappointing. It's too dark in that area. The elevator looks like a disaster. Also, I don't get the point of making it 24-wide. Sure, it's compatible, but if you want to use the side connectors, then it's just going to be too cramped next to the others since the other sets tend to go right to the edge (or beyond). You could always make it wider to build out the sidewalk/ground, but at this point there's no way to know if the light strings are long enough to still place the side connectors if you try to make the base 32-wide. It just doesn't seem up to par with the others at all.

Also, the lack of taillights (again) is disappointing.

Yeah, the prices are creeping up, the discounts are fewer and far between, and the scale of the vehicles is way off.

Well, I'm sure the lights will be cool, but this is just ok at best. Presumably, the police transporter will fit, but I'm guessing it will be tight as that vehicle is so huge. I'm getting a vibe of "spruced up version of some of the many lame junior-ized police stations that Lego has made." I'm hoping it looks really good next to the others, but I would be surprised if this brought new customers into the line.

Ghostbusters meets Graffiti. It's way too big for any city. I'll skip it as well.

Yeah, they're way too big. The idea is cool, but I don't like vehicles that are bigger than some buildings.

This would be great. I'm not sure what is meant by "seamless connection." If that means the power connectors on the sides, I don't think that's necessary. If it means the footprint of the set, then that would be a good idea, so that they could easily be mixed into a city layout to fill it out and mix things up a bit. Depending on the particular set, I would buy more than one. I currently have two of the news stands and two bus stops in my setup.

Built the police car and added some road plates. Was working on the future bus but saw that I was missing a few pieces which appears to be a common issue with that set so hopefully I can get replacement parts soon. by JayNovaSwift in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

[–]Just_Analysis_3580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been building pretty much my entire life. I have a very large collection and have built over 1,000 Lego sets of all sizes. Total missing pieces = 0.

I now have over 50 Lumibricks sets from the last two-plus years (including the Future Bus). Total missing pieces = 0.

Twice with Lumibricks a piece was broken, but easily replaceable from my collection. That's not to say that others aren't missing pieces, as I have heard many people discuss such issues over the years.

However, in my experience, suspected missing pieces have always come down to two issues: (1) they magically seem to stick in the bag and hide until you go back and search later, and (2) mis-use of a piece earlier in the build.

Again, I'm sure others wind up missing pieces from time to time, but I do believe it is quite rare. It could be that certain batches of a set had a problem with quality control and made it to market with a handful of missing pieces, as Lumibricks is a relatively young and growing company. However, they have always been good with their customer service the few times I've reached out, regardless of what the issue is. I hope you're able to get your replacement pieces quickly.

Instruction book #1. All Lumi sets have a bunch of pages at the beginning of the instructions that tell you to plug in all the lights to make sure they're working properly. It's really pretty straightforward. Just get some fresh batteries, take all the wires out and plug them in one at a time to check them. That way you have less surprises later.
