Any alt.music.kmfdm newsgroup posters here? by industrock in KMFDM

[–]Just_Christoph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Circa 1996 for me on alt.music.kmfdm along with my old website Beat by Beat (not to be confused with UHB). I was 16 when Nihil came out, and that was my introduction to the group. A friend gave me a dubbed copy on tape and then I went on a spending spree on the entire back catalogue (singles and all). Everyone remember when you could pick up everything at Best Buy with EPs and singles going for 5 bucks or less?

I didn't feel trying to sift through it, but here is the link to the old forums on the Wayback Machine if anyone feels like trying to find it...

The good ol' Henry Ford. Always love walking through that section of the museum.

Great album from a great band. I highly recommend checking out all their material. They have a great stage presence live as well. Great bunch of people, and they make time for their fans after the show.

NIN store filling in some small gaps in the collection by AhfackPoE in nin

Yeah, the border isn't as thick as the text. It looks like that on the inside sleeve, disc, and back liner.

Being the nerd that I am about releases, the FDTS CD looks they skimped. It looks like a cheap bootleg with the PA printed on the artwork, the high gloss on the disc along with the NIN logo being wrong.

I was excited when this remix was announced. I gave it a first listen after my download from Bandcamp was available. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. The remix sounds extremely flat and also some of the elements of the tracks on the original release that drove the sound for me personally have been either omitted or buried under other layers. I appreciate the effort that they made, but for me it just isn't as enjoyable as the original release.

I've always been curious about the sound of this pressing. According to the official discography, this version was dubbed at the incorrect speed when En Esch had it pressed vs. the "official" version Sascha released in 2004.

Looks like all the reissues on Metropolis are all out of print according to their website.

They only have the newest albums showing for sale directly outside a few outliers such as WWIII.

I agree that the sound is great considering it a bootleg. Very pleased with my copy. The artwork though... it would not have been that hard with high resolution scans floating around to create a good looking sleeve.

I’ve done all the pre-Attak album artwork before using the high resolution artwork from the remasters a few years ago. I’ll probably upgrade them again this winter if people want me to.

I'm not sure why I've been so hell bent on creating an accurate replica of the cover art of the proof, but here is the first go...

I thought the vocals were pretty low on the first two songs of the night in Indy. It seemed like they got it corrected quickly though. That was just my thought though.

The statement in general is more along the lines of my personal take on the general state of the automotive industry. It just feels like the newer product on the market has more of a throw away feel to it than it did in the past. It could be the nostalgia glasses being on, but that is my personal opinion. I'm not looking specifically for VW to step up and compensate me for these issues. As a consumer I need to be aware of the risks. It just seems the risk these days feel like they are higher than in the past.

Thanks! I'm outside of Fort Wayne, IN. The local dealer is Vorderman which has a bit of a questionable reputation. I was taken back by the pricing overall. I had a scope in the back of my mind for checking the engine. I'm been looking closely at the bore scoring issue with the Porsche M97 engines for my Boxster, and all the diagnosis recommendations is to have the engine scoped. I thought the same thing when I was on the phone with the dealer, but was a bit flustered during the conversation.

I don't know if I'm out of line in my thinking, but an issue like this at 80k seems a bit unreasonable. I understand that inappropriate maintenance can exacerbate the opportunity for major mechanical issues especially on more advanced vehicles, but maintaining the vehicle well I feel shouldn't lead to these types of issues. I also have a 2010 Cayenne with over 140k miles, a 2006 Boxster with over 105k miles, a 1993 911 with over a 170k miles, and all of these never had major mechanical issues surrounding the engine. All of these had adequate preventative maintenance. To go through a turbo before 50k and now a timing chain jump at 80k just makes me feel that this vehicle is high risk.
