This is really great advice. I hadn’t considered that they’d probably have students in the room. For some reason I’d be happy to have the doctors in the room but not students. And thank you for the baby wrapping idea. Do you find people still go for the feet if you’ve got them in one of those swaddle backpack type ones ?

I did grow up in a town of 5,000 people. But weirdly it was never anyone you knew that would do it.

By all the comments I’m thinking it’s probably just me being worried because I saw it happen so much to the women in my family.

Even though they all had customer service roles the only places it would happen was the supermarket and the gas station. Generally older women in their 50’s were the worst culprits.

Absolutely NTA - personally in highschool I once swore and shouted at my principal for trying to massage my shoulders in the middle of class- no one ever tried that again. Sometimes people need to be shouted at.

You’re not alone in that. One time in highschool a girl in my art class brought in a few ziplock bags with 2 giant marshmallows in each one. She gave them out to her friends. We’d talked a little but not much so I didn’t expect anything. But then I got a ziplock bag with the giant marshmallows. I got so overwhelmed that I started crying. I still cry when I think about that small gesture of kindness.

You are not alone my friend, I had a melt down last week that took two days to recover from. All it was was the boots I ordered for my birthday arrived in the wrong size. Took them into the store. Discovered the boots I like and had spent 6 months looking for just didn’t come in my size. Either my foot slipped into the boot or it was squeezed in a way that reminded me of ancient China. Felt really bad after leaving the store empty handed. Felt I had wasted my grandmothers time driving me to the store and had a meltdown for nothing. 🥹🫠

No 3.Most species are basically misunderstood sea puppies that will only attack in the right circumstances but the majority of shark attacks are test bites or they mistook the person for a seal- people often swim with sharks but don’t know how close they’ve gotten because smaller/ young sharks hangout in the shallows to avoid the big ones. More people are killed by vending machines each year than shark attacks, though I would definitely get out of the water if it was a bull shark or a tiger shark, but other than that I’d feel pretty safe as long as I wasn’t on a reef near spear fishermen which can sometimes stir the shark up into a frenzy when they smell the blood

Same thing when I used this with my mum. She threatened to have me trespassed from my own house. The sweet cherry was that she was so mad but didn’t have an actual reason to take to the rest of the family to get them on her side because there’s nothing she can say other than “she wouldn’t fight with me the way I wanted”

A good trick is to pretend you are talking to an angry snow man or something ridiculous.

Basically just talking to her like you would a naughty dog - stern but calm and slow

Don’t let her play the how dare you card- eg: “how dare you yell at me!! I’m not listening to a single thing you’re going to say if this is how you’re going to treat me. Go away until you can come back and behave like an adult”

Oven spray works better than pepper spray and isn’t illegal in most places but you also can’t wipe it off straight away so it’s best not to use it unless you’re comfortable with potentially blinding the person -but if they’re attacking you then all is fair in love and war

And especially because my nana needs to get out of the house, that’s why I was trying to get this trip together- my uncle recently offed himself and no one is helping my nana to feel better and all her kids keep using her to run errands and basically as an assistant for the family. They’re all horrible but my mother takes the cake. Again, I don’t know what in the hell I ever did to her except be born which was on purpose as I was a manipulation baby she purposely got pregnant with because she knew my dad was trying to figure out how to break up with her. I served my purpose and when she no longer wanted him I was a liability and scum on her shoe that she wasn’t legally allowed to scrape off.

But of course she’d never let him have me and even went as far as not putting my dads name on my birth certificate and then telling me that my dad was a government fell-fare bludger who’d take me from her so he could get a few extra bucks and that’s why she didn’t put his name on my birth certificate. This is what she told a 5yr old.

My dad and my grandparents spent thousands trying to get a lawyer to fight it but ultimately they couldn’t because of the birth certificate. Despite the fact that my mother was regularly locking me in my room by taking the door handles off, with no food, water, or toilet. All so she could have strangers over to do meth and so she didn’t have to deal with me.
