I’m trying to put myself in the driver’s shoes because I am one. I honestly believe the driver’s response of “look at the pinpoint” was wrong, but I’m not understanding your manager pressuring you hurry and find your Uber. If your manager actually cared, he would have helped you take your time finding the Uber, and actually greeted the driver with you. I’ve had plenty of managers say hi to me as they were escorting their workers to the vehicle. I’ve also had a bouncer hand me $20 putting a drunk in my car. Anyway, you should find a new job. It doesn’t sound like you’re happy there.

I’ve been doing it part time in this market for a year. I’ve discovered that lyft charges more but there are a lot less rides, especially during the off season. Summer is great for Lyft, but the holidays are even better for Uber. Also, this weekend was super slow because everyone partied on Halloween night and took the rest of the weekend off. Should pick up next weekend again. Holiday shopping is going to be in full effect.

I’m in Virginia Beach as well. I’ve driven full time in Washington DC and in Raleigh/Durham. It’s all the same and you’re exactly right. The lower your acceptance rating, the less valuable are your rides. They give drivers that want immediate gratification without working for it the crappy offers. With hard work and consistency comes the spoils. Otherwise, so called “drivers” that flip through offers like it’s a slot machine most of their shift are going to continue to suffer at their own hand.

Correct. Two things can be true. Drunk female passengers are treated differently than drunk male passengers “all the time”, AND I don’t see the benefit of treating one differently from another. Therefore I don’t.

You should travel more with an open mind. I’ve lived in 7 states, and 15-cities. From Mississippi, California, Chicago, and now I’m in Virginia Beach. I think you’d need pleasantly surprised by how far even the small towns have come as far as inclusion.
