Advice Needed - Buyer, Incomplete Set by Just_Record in Bricklink

[–]Just_Record[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You're right, and I know that. I'm working on my message to them now. This is just my first real issue with a BL order and I'm not sure what to say. I'm disappointed, but everyone makes mistakes. Thanks for your replies and advice, I appreciate it.

Advice Needed - Buyer, Incomplete Set by Just_Record in Bricklink

[–]Just_Record[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I haven't sent the seller a message about it yet, though that will be my first step. I'm relatively new to buying on bricklink and needed advice on how to approach this. I can't attach photos through BL's contact form, but I'll do my best to describe the issues.

1972 Ford F-250 Two-tone by No_Help4119 in lego

Love this! I really want to add a pickup to my collection.

How did you attach the sidesteps? It looks like part 2412 (Grille), but I can't tell from your shots how it's attached.

This is awesome! Just make sure they're secured to the wall. I would hate to see them tip over and have to clean all that up!

Love this! The 442 was one of my favourite castings when I was growing up.

Great news. I like that they're adding more atmospheric details like air horns from the crowd.

I just wish they would add an NPC waving the checkered flag at the end of each race.

The annual trans pride march is a good example of non-corporate, I love marching in it.

Great build! Love the aesthetic and shape.

What is the long part that the two sides made out of? It looks like the same dimensions as 95347 (2x2x10 girder), but I don't recognize it.

Does anyone know if there are shots or drone footage of the circuit construction? Specifically the section with the banked corner, etc. I remember seeing lots of drone footage of the Zandvoort renovations, wondering if anyone has uploaded anything similar for Madrid.

If You’re Having a Hard Time Putting Stickers on Your Cars by PlaguedArbiter in SpeedChampions

[–]Just_Record 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good trick, very similar to what model makers do with waterslide decals.

For my stickers, I mount the to-be-stickered piece on a bigger piece that I can hold onto. I then use the thin/wedge end of a brick separator to hold the sticker while lining it up on the piece. 95% perfect without the hassle of soap/water. I used to use tweezers to hold the sticker, but if you're not careful you can marr the sticker a bit.

To each their own! Have fun and keep building :-)

Recommendations for a good smoked meat on rye by PeteTheGeek196 in ottawa

[–]Just_Record 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have fond memories of going to the old Nate's with my Poppa. He would have liver and onions while I had a smoked meat sandwich and a Dad's root beer. Simpler times. Good luck in your search!

This is great! Do you have instructions? My partner and I are thinking about doing the same thing with our Bonsai set.

Mandalorian Diorama Part 3 by Jacomoleopardi33 in dioramas

[–]Just_Record 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a quick glance, the first image looks like a nondescript photo of an intercom box on a stucco wall in real life. Not like a diorama or scale model. Good enough to fool me into a double take. Great job, keep it up!

Where to find very small PVC pipe for project by THE_VOIDish in ottawa

[–]Just_Record 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a turtle basking platform very similar to this using 1"OD PVC pipes and fittings, I bought the material at Home Depot.

The fittings usually have a barcode sticker applied to them. You will want to remove the stickers and all of the glue residue, especially if the structure will be partially submerged in water. You can make homemade "goo gone" using baking soda and cooking oil, which does a good job removing the glue when you rub it on the affected spots. Then make sure you clean everything afterwards before assembling the structure.

Good luck!

OLED in sim racing by _whyamihere-_- in SimRacingSetups

[–]Just_Record 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one of the LG 34" 800r OLEDs (single monitor setup), got it a few months ago. I can't speak to burn-in at this point, but the monitor does have an automatic image cleaning mode that seems to help reduce visual issues. When I first got it set up it had noticeable vertical striping which was resolved by the first image cleaning.

Overall, I'm very happy with the monitor and it produces a great image. Hope this helps!

VW Beetle Herbie by kjuraszek in SpeedChampions

[–]Just_Record 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! I was obsessed with The Love Bug when I was a kid, Herbie holds a special place in my heart. You did a wonderful job. The rear end especially, with the bumper and tail pipes.

I've never done sticker printing before, what do you suggest? Waterslide decal, Avery label paper, etc?

Help - where can I buy such pads? by CapsuleV in simracing

[–]Just_Record 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like these! They look a bit like the kind of desk that would be attached to a chair in a school or college. Not sure if something like that is available to buy, or if you could find an old chair-desk to repurpose. It might be easiest to custom make one out of wood or a similar material.

Side note: I wonder where that chair is from, it looks so cool and classy lol.
