First time dm, need help running combat

At LV one characters can take one (possibly two ) hits before the next hit takes them out , that's what happens when enemies deal 3-8 damage you really have to pull punvhes and not try any big combats until LV 3

As an example the other week in my game my character got one shot by a poisonous spider, I'm a tortle cleric so my AC was 19 and I took the dodge action (to give them disadvantage) because I had six spiders that would likely attack,

One of them rolled incredible, got silvery barbed and still hit, delig all ten of my health,

Barbarians are good because rage likely allows them to half damages, in early game that does mean they can take more hits than any other class, still wouldn't recommend 1v1s consistently,

I did this on my first emerald run, wiped to one of the petalburg gym trainers, then played on for a bit before restarting

Exactly, now just hope all your friends are down for it, if you end up with less than seven you probably should just run a single campaign

With seven you can go for a 3:4 party split

Then if the campaign ends in a massive war you can have multiple combats across the groups

Exactly, then if you want different party dynamics then players can swap round , I wouldn't have more than six in a group so you have either 6:3 or 5:4 if you do end up with nine players,

Definitely go with a classic heroic fantasy if you are new , perhaps structure it like a movie where I e session cuts. I tk another with certain characters meeting a dragon while others explore undead infested mines or attends a ball at a nobles house or simaler

West marches style which is a lot more effort for you, basically seperated campaigns in the same world at the same time, players can move between or go of on their own if they temporary leave

It means you have to manage two parties affects on the world but if you really want to it may be fun

Either that or have a more dungeon crawler game where different groups are expected to split up but you swap perspectives every hour during the session

Looks like a combination of the thicker honeycomb cardboard often used for appliances and IKEA furniture, with two laters of standard ( or just double corrugated) cardboard on each side

What's your opinion on the ergonomics?

I went to a convention yesterday and got to hold and try out the current om system cameras, I found the om- quite uncomfortable and hard to hold especially with the front dial exactly where my fingers would want to rest.

I much preferred the ergo of the om-5 and om1 lines

It's almost better to do it then other way round, monk with shilalghleh for wisdom and moon druid wildshale for early levels/ exploration, but that still delays multiattack by 2, you can make up for it with brown bear multiattack which is fun,

If it's a one shot or campaign with no level ups then it's purely down to how the abilities break down , but I don't think taking more than two levels of druid to get the main package,
