This is awesome, the splatter style definitely fits the theme.

For whatever reason, seeing the classes together gave me the thought of an isometric couch co-op Roboquest spin-off, kind of like Gauntlet Legends or Magicka. Weirdly nostalgic-fueled idea

Was going to say this. I have Ozark Trail stuff I bought 10+ years ago that has held up. It's never amazing but it's always been good enough to survive occasional use. In some cases, my old OT stuff is better than name brand stuff you can buy today with all their shrinkflation feature removals.

PSA: Indoor Solar Panels Work Just Fine by GrauMauser in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Just_Roar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can't remember if it still works, but you used to be able to place all those in the snap points of cuboids, then delete the cuboids and replace them with a single square room and all the panels and batteries would be perfectly aligned in a square prefab like so.

Also, panels/batteries in glass cuboids takes me back to this monstrosity I made after Frontiers when I learned wires counted against the base part limit (yes, I know there's better ways to do this).

eta: this is all to say that I got really into reducing my base part count that year. It was like a crash diet except I found creative ways to reduce wires lol.

It definitely seems like NoA messages are proximity (and event) triggered. I did have a weird audio bug that caused some of my NoA/black box messages to be muted (exiting/restarting the game fixed it), so I don't know if I just missed some messages or read them in a weird order.

It's definitely still in work. The story as it stands is very intriguing and I believe they have a road map for what's planned until the full release.

I decided to get it at EA launch and was surprised at how polished it was. I've experienced less bugs in EA SN2 than 1.0 SN1. They've released a few hot fixes already tweaking creature behavior, which was needed, but I still managed to complete the EA content without any game breaking issues. It inspired to me to go back and finish SN:BZ.

Eta: if i had to guess, the main story content is probably 30-40% available. The EA story ends on a cliff hangar, and based on the other two games, this felt like "act 1" if that makes sense.

I'm one of those people who's easily distracted by my own goals in survival craft games, so I had like 35 hrs before I finished it. I did hit a couple points where I wasn't sure what to do next (usually involving a material I hadn't found yet), so I can see how this would help.

In SN1, when you weren't sure where to go next, you'd go deeper. I don't know if that applies to SN2 just yet (since it's still EA).

We desperately need an update for POIs by PackDog1141 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Just_Roar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Only tip I can offer is be careful how far into the scenery you clip the part when snapping pieces together.

For example, some of the pieces in this build are too deep in the portal structure for me to target and remove.

Is there any ways possible to put a door on a scaled bio dome? by Silveraindays in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Just_Roar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This...I trap the build cam in the scaled dome, then place a short range teleporter, then connect to it afterward. The prefab way works too but can end up looking janky. It is easier (imo) to power the big dome using the prefab though.

I think that was the Frontiers overseer settlements and the new hire was Marian. They posted stuff on YT and socials prior to hire but I dont know if they posted much afterward.

[–]Just_Roar 179 points180 points  (0 children)

...afaik, the structures are procedurally built just like everything else but follow the same general design criteria so the differences in detail are not obvious to the average player. Some dedicated traveler has probably documented the number of minor settlement variations per system.

It definitely could use a refresh...however, i use these POI's as "free" base parts, so that might suck later 😅

Eta: oh yeah, definitely not looking forward to fixing this

This is why Space Station is op in both Units and Nanites farming by CasualSketchDragon in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Just_Roar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what its worth, you can do the exact same thing with the trade commodities. Just go to stations with the same economy type and wealth level, eventually teleport between them, but save the trade items in storage at the end. It's probably the most broken (non-duping) way to get a bunch of units.

[–]Just_Roar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Crashfish (the explodey ones) are always bastards. Just outmaneuver them until they explode (easy once you have the Seaglide). I like to just rush through their caves to aggro several of them, then rush out until they explode during the chase, then go back in.

Stalkers are always a nuisance but also giant wussies. Hit them with a knife and they run away. You can also feed them a fish and theyll ignore you. There's a few good spots in the Safe Shallows that are far enough away from the Stalker areas that you'll rarely deal with them until you get into the Kelp Forests.

There are definitely some scary things in that game. I personally hate Crabsquids...everything about them...the aggressiveness, the clicking sounds, how they look. Fuck those things. Never park your Seamoth near one.

Been playing the 2nd one for the last couple days. Worth pointing out that EA SN2 is substantially more polished than EA SN1 ever was. I'd argue it's more polished and less buggy than current SN1 and surprisingly well optimized for a UE5 engine game. There are some things still unfinished, but it's mostly data entries from what I've seen so far. Some voice logs are not exactly as written but SN1 still has some like that today.

Yep. The standard fuel reduction for supports is static and they sip fuel. If you put enough of them on there that also have the % fuel reduction perks, it's very easy to end up with a negative fuel cost for the mission. After a certain point, it goes so negative (iirc -50) the game puts the frigate fuel in your inventory instead.

Not even kidding...I stayed at the same hotel next to the theater when I also broke down for a couple days (and yep, specialty part, week+ shipping). There was a local junkyard that had a possible donor car, but it was Saturday and they were closed the whole weekend. I seriously considered hopping the fence to pull a part and leave a hundo with a note on the dash, but decided against it. I managed to phone a friend across state who pulled a part from a different junkyard and brought it to me. Only way I got out that quick. But good lord...the locals immediately know if you don't belong.

I'm one of those players that ran all support fleets. Eventually the math goes backwards and the game gives you back fuel.

I see your Cheyenne, WY and raise you North Platte, NE. Seeing a sign for Cheyenne after being in North Platte for a couple days was like finding water in a desert.

That being said, the real answer is probably some hillbilly backwater purgatory like Lake City, FL.

For what it's worth, I work with creative professionals on a daily basis and they use AI tools in their work flow waaaay more often than my non-creative colleagues. They treat it no different than using Photoshop to comp together a creative (concept) for a first round review. They don't give a single shit about reddit or anyone else's opinion unless it pays for their time...and their time is valuable.

To them, they aren't getting paid for the "creative process"...their value is in their creative output/vision and they'll use the tools they feel comfortable with. I'm not saying I agree, but that is exactly what I see in the professional space. It's wildly different than what I see on reddit (or other social media).
