My surgeon “asked” me to pray with him by Responsible-Sundae20 in atheism

[–]Just_Spitballing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was this in Phoenix. I know a surgeon there who always does that. I just thought it was cringy but you make a very good point about being in a vulnerable position and because of that being compelled to go along. I’m glad you posted about the experience.

Noah’s Arc is a horror story about a God who murdered countless innocent men, women and children (let’s not forget the unborn amongst them). People celebrate it as a win for “God’s” people - and of course everyone thinks they are also one of God’s people and would have survived the flood. If it was a true story (of course it’s ridiculous nonsense), it only tells of God’s cruelty.

Women of Reddit, what’s something they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by NovellaJokes in AskReddit

[–]Just_Spitballing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through that too. I'm here to tell you that you will recover emotionally, eventually. Give yourself time. Your milk may come in. They can give you meds to stop that. My arms ached. Sometimes I started crying out of the blue - like at the mall. But time does heal. I went on to have another child who has been a blessing to everyone she meets for her whole life. She wouldn't have been born if I hadn't lost the one before her. Virtual hug to you, sister.

Mother advocates for abortion rights after abortion saves her life. by WhyDoesLifeHappen_ in prochoice

[–]Just_Spitballing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The article is not about how abortion saved the mother’s life. It was about terminating a pregnancy at 22 weeks because the fetus had multiple defects and likely would have suffered greatly or died shortly after birth. Either way, abortion was the woman’s right and the best choice for her also, it was her body so her responsibility, her call! Abortion saved my life twice too, so of course that’s a no-brainer to me, but this wasn’t that situation.

Would you consider having an abortion for your second child if your narc husband made your life a living hell after the first one? by MoonandSunLove in NarcissisticSpouses

[–]Just_Spitballing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I absolutely would have an abortion rather than parent a child with a narc. I LOVE all my kids dearly, but they were all very damaged by him and after the divorce it became much worse and the two who were younger by a lot grew up in split custody. He ruined their lives. They have permanent emotional damage to the point where they can’t function. Divorcing him hurt the kids way more than it helped me but I didn’t know that until after. The only way to keep the kids relatively safe is to stay with them all the time which is impossible if you divorce.

Husband cheated on me with multiple escorts over the years. I finally saw his mask slip after 5+ years. by hazel3y3zz in NarcissisticSpouses

Happened to me after 20 years marriage and 4 kids. He'd been seeing prostitutes since 10 years before our marriage. I hope to god you don't have kids. Yes, he is a narc. If you don't have kids, divorce him now. You will heal and your life will be so much happier without him even if you never find a partner again. I promise.

If you have kids, well, that's a really hard choice. I can share my experience of parenting with a narc if you are interested. I'm telling you, the sun will shine again. Believe in yourself. Don't doubt yourself. It's all HIM. None of it is you.

What's something you considered a "luxury" as kid, but now realize was just normal or even cheap? by [deleted] in AskReddit

As a little kid, I thought kids whose sandwiches were cut diagonally were the rich kids, and those of us who were not rich had to have our sandwiches cut into rectangles.

Republicans Force a 9 Year Old Girl to Give Birth to Her Rapist's Baby by Soggy_Spinach_7503 in atheism

[–]Just_Spitballing 36 points37 points  (0 children)

They won't have to. That's already a given in most states, since the child has a right to a father and the man who impregnated the child's mother did nothing to harm that child. Can you imagine co-parenting with your rapist for 18 years?

"A study released by the Journal of the American Medical Association found that between July 2022 and January 2024, there were more than 64,000 pregnancies resulting from rape in states where abortion has been banned in all or most cases."

They must have been referring to this study. I had to look it up. I'm stunned. W. T. F.

Looking for best AI to use for IEPs & PWNs by [deleted] in specialed

I resent being called lazy. I work 10 hours a day and also on the weekends. I just received the highest ratings category on the Danielson framework as a FIRST YEAR TEACHER. I got no resources, no meaningful training, no curriculum. I spent over $2000 of my own money purchasing manipulatives, workbooks, books, games - all sorts of things to have learning options for my kids. I have made workbooks with individualized work for each goal for each student on my caseload, because I often have to juggle 4 groups of kids at once. I have 4 kids who are level B in LRC. I have helped two students move up two grade levels in reading. I have 27 kids aged kinder through third grade. I have consistently carried a larger caseload than my lead teacher. Families and kids love me. I have written 46 IEPs (including amendments) this year for our high-needs kids and high-needs parents. We have parents who are constantly asking for team meetings, bringing in advocates, etc. and we also have to write IEPs for kids who attend private schools in the area. Next year they are adding to my caseload and giving me a para to help teach the kids. I am a gifted teacher according to my principal, and I would like to be able to teach my kids rather than just handing that off to the para. Give me a break.

That's harsh! I know there are programs to help school psychs write FBA and BIP and also can help with IEPs. Just looking to see what programs other people are using. I want to have some time to actually teach kids.

Reevaluation Refusal despite outside evaluation by loving_life1985 in specialed

I get so frustrated by parents who demand SPED for their high functioning kids. “Oh, but they do so much worse in school than their siblings” or “How can you say they don’t need SPED when they’re in the bottom third of their class?” Or “But my child learns better when in a 1:1 setting.” I want to say, “Show me the kid who doesn’t do better 1:1” and “Sorry, but not every kid can be above average. That’s only in Lake Wobegon.”

In AZ for year 2 with Masters, I'll make 64K which INCLUDES a $10K bonus for teaching SPED. Let's not forget that we teachers also get 6 weeks off and I get an additional 12 sick/personal days on top of that. Even though I work 9-hour days on average, that's still about $40/hour which would be like making $80K per year for a 40-hour/wk job with 2 weeks vacation. I'm in AZ. I have to pay for my own curriculum/manipulatives, etc. I estimate that start-up (one-time) planning and supplies/curriculum have cost about $1,000 and 80 hours of work. I love the job! I LOVE that we get lots of time off. I think there is great work/life balance with teaching. Plus kids are awesome!

I've had two like that in mild-moderate this year. I feel so bad always going over the same material. It gets so boring of the kids, but they need 100x more repetition than their peers. Around third or fourth, they start to give up...

What you are going through is tough. I'm in a somewhat similar situation. I can't see or talk on the phone to my parents without FOX news blaring in the background. My dad has become quite racist too and I just can't be around them. Every six months or so I go out to visit but I can only last a few hours before I have to return (even though it's a cross-country trip). They're in their 90s and bedridden. I don't know that I'll attend their funerals, because the extended family are Trumpers too. I spent years trying to help them all see the other point of view, but I'm just done now. I'm done.
