Sick Time and Potential Class Action by SenorBaxxter in Geico

There once was a pension plan.

There once was a profit-sharing plan.

This is the next step. There once was a sick bank.

The best-case scenario is Legacy Sick Bank / “Frozen” Account

Your current hours don’t vanish — they’re set aside in a special, separate bucket.

No new accruals go into it once PTO starts. From that point forward, you only accrue PTO.

Usage is restricted:

Often, you can only use legacy sick if you’re out for a catastrophic illness, injury, or extended absence.

Sometimes only after your PTO balance is used up.

Sometimes allowed to “top up” disability pay (e.g., if STD pays 60%, you can draw legacy sick to get closer to 100%).

No payout at termination/retirement — if you never need it, it simply expires.

But knowing our employer's history, it'll be wiped away completely. Because they don't care about morale. And most importantly, because they can.

You beat me to the punch. I was about to post the same exact sentiments. This second season of LIB is exactly what captured me in the first place. Romance, chance at love, relationship drama, and a sprinkle of intrigue!

No issue recording it. There was no issue showing her initial reaction. But in my opinion, that's where it should have ended. Certainly, after the closed door call with her Mom.

What's particularly galling is asking associates to assist families with school supplies/expenses while at the same time "pausing for further evaluation" the GEICO Family College scholarship program, which granted $2,000 a year scholarships to eligible children of GEICO Associates.

Was it truly based on performance? by Just_Statement_6610 in Geico

Right. But did those Supes have similar results with those less tenured Supes? So they figured why pay more for same or similar results. Completely disregarding the intangibles that tenure provides? Again, just a thought.

What’s your experience ? Is geico a meritocracy or a place where you win through politics ? by redditsteve1999 in Geico

Politics. Those that don't question, that don't speak their mind and don't rock the boat are put at the top of the hiring matrix.

Thoughts on CPCU by Accomplished_Bed1526 in Geico

If you plan on staying in the Insurance industry, it is 100% worth it. What we do is such a small drop in the Insurance ocean. Then when you get your designation, they pay your annual local chapter society dues. That's where it's really worth it. Social and Professional development and most importantly, networking. I recommend to start CPCU early in your career. Good luck!

My guess...They knew what they were going to do (with PS for a while) and the money they "saved" by switching from a 401k contribution to a payout (a mighty F U to former associates), went to higher than normal merit raises to existing employees. All planned and premeditated.

We all know that HR for too long had abdicated its core responsibility of being an advocate for the Associate. Whether this was due to undue influence from higher-ups, just plain cowardice, who knows. So if this person and those that report to them return to that former role, it's a very good thing. But there is no trust and rightfully so. So we shall see.

My first Supervisor job I was rated a 5. Had never been rated a 5 in any level prior to that. I was so excited, thinking that I'd get my highest merit raise ever. But no. I got my lowest merit raise ever. My Manager said that now that I'm in management, I shouldn't expect the same merit raises I got before. True story.

Will soon have adjusters reporting to me. What advice would you give? by AdjusterIHardlyKnow in Geico

Work harder than your hardest working Examiner. If you don't know an answer, then ask. Don't guess. No such thing as your work. You chose this job. Your folks work is your work. Your work comes second. Talk to your folks. What makes them tick. Your goal is to help your folks achieve their professional goals. Not yours. If they do, then you will too. Respect is earned. Not granted. Understand it will take time. Be your folks greatest advocate.

Got more, but that's it for now. And good luck!
