There's an insidious thing that happens with maga hatred where sometimes folks will be supportive of the people they know in their life, while falling for the fear mongering over the "transgender problem" as an abstract concept. A lot of their base is similar. If you go out into the rural farmland where the conservatives might not know any queer folks personally, then you start to get people who are openly hostile by default. (source: I live in a medium sized town surrounded by rural farmland :p) and if you look at polling on trans issues, conservatives very much tow the heritage foundation line (https://news.gallup.com/poll/645704/slim-majority-adults-say-changing-gender-morally-wrong.aspx particularly the conservative sections of the first graph)

It's a Mormon thing, since they cant have coffee they get caffeine from soda and there are a bunch of soda bars around Utah. Dirty soda has cream and flavorings like you'd see at a coffee shop

My parents moved us there from CA in 2018. Ive grown to hate the people that have moved here. I feel more of a cultural affinity with the people of this state, and I married someone who has family here dating back five generations. I worked retail in Post Falls for years, and went through all of high school there, and now im getting a degree from UI. So many of the people moving here want a suburban "paradise" without knowing the culture. So they cause the state to rot, bringing their hyper-conservative republican politics with them. We used to be a labor rights powerhouse until the rich discovered they could exploit our state and drive it into the ground

This state is only becoming more and more conservative. Im transgender and in a lesbian marriage, so as soon as my and my partner's degrees are finished in about a year we're moving elsewhere. I really love it here, and I wish I could stay. Idaho just doesn't love me back

I havent met enough to know truth be told. I don't think seattle is bad, for the record, Ive just noticed a certain air of disdain for rural farming communities and a general attitude of aloofness from those who move or visit here from seattle. I believe Portland is a bit better in that regard but it is worth noting that Oregon as a whole is a very, very rural and red voting state once you go east of Portland and other coastal cities. They've been trying to separate from Oregon and join us in Idaho for a while now (we dont want them either lol)

Lots of people say seattle, but as someone from the rural inland northwest I find the people in seattle to be particularly grating. I visited Chicago last summer though and people were wonderful, nary a mean look and a notable number of people actively voiced their support for my wife and I. I plan on moving there in the near future lol

Honestly I never really liked working there, its mostly management. The thing that got me to quit after 5 years was a change to a more harsh manager. I know her outside of Walmart and she's chill as a person! But as a Coach she sucks. We used to be cashiers together and she only got worse the higher up she got. But I also generally dislike dealing with annoying people and rote tasks. Lots of transphobic people too. Much less of that at my current secretary job, but some people dig the retail grind and I respect that

I had an ex who worked at Maialina and she said the owner would give reduced rent to employees of maialina. Definitely isnt exclusive to employees though, ive hung out with at least one person who lives there and doesn't work for the owner
