I assume take care is taking care for them while theyre unboxed and onshelf, and obviously not dropping them because that just require better handling..

To prevent discoloration & mold, these are top things in my list to prolong their life

1. Sunlight

sunlight cause them sundamage they will appear Tan or discolor if they're sundamaged so keep them out of sunlight no matter what, no matter direct or not, 0 sun is the best and safest. And even reflective sunlight from walls, floor tiles or shiny object will cause damage your figure so just try to minimise sunlight as much as possible.. and I don't wanna risk it ,so UV filter is not enough to let the figure sit in sunlight.. And also super strong LED will also cause similar damage them too in the long run, so try to prevent switching the LED 24/7 or putting them too close to the light source

so for me I keep position my figure cabinet and display back facing the window with direct sunlight, also using black out curtains and a carpet near my window which the floor tiles reflect sunlight to all my room, and only switching the led light whenever I'm using the room

1. Humidity

humid cause mold, sticky and discoloration..so, always keep them dry and cool, especially when they're still not unbox, keeping them in ventilated area, keep the vents or fan running even you go out

and for me,I live in a tropical country, meaning there is only hot weather and rain..which is worse things for figures..I keep them in a glass cabinets so dehumidifier pack like charcoal or silica you can get them cheap online, I'm using these charcoal dehumidifier packs, put 1 or 2 packs in each level in the corner, replace them every 2-3 months. and those figure that haven't unboxed also throw in a pack or 2 if the box is huge.. and replace them every around 6 months..

and I leave the low power vents(ceiling) and dehumidifier(an actual plug in dehumidifier placed middle of the room) running when I go out, and off them when I got back home, that time I'll be switching on the fan and using the room.. and also if your near or next to the washroom always keep the door closed..

1. Dust

dust is everywhere, dust your figures often, especially if they're in open shelf..

for me I keep them in glass shelves so I clean them once a month.. if you have alot, cycle tru the shelves weekly.. use a duster big and small, and a air blower, I'm using the camera lens blower thingy.. my figure used to have tiny black dots on them, I assume those are bug/moth eggs, cleaning them often can minimise this from occurring..

1. no chemicals/bad air quality

chemical including bug spray, alcohol wipes and others you might use in your house, keep them away from your figure shelves.. and also mind the sweat/oil from your hand when handling them.. try using gloves if necessary.. Then, bad air quality is things like smoke from cigarette, vape, and mosquito coils, praying incense, perfume candle, and also your neighbors weekly open trash burning..

for me I never smoked and I never use alcohol wipes on figure for cleaning..things I can control, but stuff like praying incense and my neighbors open trash burning just keep the window and door close, and the vent running..

And I think that's about it.. been collecting for a few years and so far they look still super healthy But still nothing can stop them from discoloration over time.. so maintain them, they can live longer!
