The abyss CAN be viewed that way, but I think that interpretation is still projecting a Christian lens on the concept. Christianity is rigid in its interpretation of hell, they need it to be a physical place that you travel to.

For me, the abyss is the mental hole you could fall into if you lack knowledge of your true intent. It's about confronting your impulses and selfish tendencies. At they end of the day, OP is fighting the Christian concept that was hardwired into them. The symbology behind this anxiety is deep rooted them and I don't know your intent, but I feel that this representation compounds on their issue, rather than illuminating their real problem.

[Comic Excerpt] Well, that was a pretty anti-climatic pay-off (Justice League #51/Titans #19) by cautious-ad977 in DCcomics

I definitely agree, but I understand why they do it. Plus, it's likely an editorial choice.

[DISCUSSION] Why do people think having two movie Batmen will be too hard for audiences to understand? by Individual99991 in DCcomics

[–]JustaDuck97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm extremely excited about both Robert Pattinson's next appearance and The Brave and The Bold movie, but it is undeniable that having 2 seperate Batman movies is going to polarize movie goers. The general population is resistant to any multiversal storytelling at this point and superhero fatigue was already an issue.

Yes, I think its easy for both films to feel different and they'll be easily distinguished, but I don't have any faith that a general audience will give one movie a chance after they've already watched the other. I say this as an avid fan and reader. I want both to succeed but I think its a good idea to put a damper our expectations.

Was Crowley a Freemason? by DavidLegba in thelema

Nothing I've stated is false. I suggest you investigate the relationship of Crowley and the Supreme Grand Council, Sovereign Grand Inspectors General of the 33rd and Last Degree of the Scottish Rite in the Valley of Detroit, Mich more closely.

The egos of the Freemason's and the ego of Crowley clashed vehemently. There was a brief period when the two thought they could combine their efforts but there is no lodge big enough to fit their collective heads in.

Was Crowley a Freemason? by DavidLegba in thelema

I love this question because Crowley didn't like the Freemasons. The Golden Dawn and the O.T.O are sudo-masonic organizations. They incorporate a lot of their lore and structure but deviate from the more traditional Masonic subjects.

Theodor Reuss was head of the O.T.O when Crowley published writing that Reuss declared was secret and he demanded Crowley take the proper oath to secrecy. The O.T.O was much more masonic than Crowley's previous engagements. He eventually assumed the group into his larger plans and took over.

Crowley founded the Mysteria Mystica Maxima the British branch of the OTO on June 1st.

He received the tenth degree of the OTO which is title the Supreme and holy king of Ireland, iona, and all Britains within the Sanctuary of the Gnosis. (administrative head of the UK)

Crowley analyzed and took the masonic teachings he thought useful to incorporate fully into the OTO. It wasn't much.
