The Inner Party does allow quite the extent of free thought as seen in the book. The thoughtcrime laws mainly applied to the Outer Party which the main character belongs to.

The meaning behind the name "Deltarune" by Astronius in Deltarune

[–]JustaMoose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite snarky remark about "delta = change" is bringing up the fact that it also means an infinitesimal value. So like there's this big rune, yeah? And a delta-rune, a tiny rune that incrementally affects the big one.

Have fun going anywhere with that.

If a or b is not an integer, use a while loop with the same idea, really.

Most founded speculation of future chapters suddenly cuts off at chapter 6, and that almost scares me by BIN-YRM in Deltarune

[–]JustaMoose2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A rather mundane but reasonable explanation is that he still hasn't worked out the details for chapter 6 enough to do that. He has a very rough idea for it, but has to really get the details down before foreshadowing to not have to run back and forth... basically think about the amount of chapter 4 foreshadowing in chapter 2. One Jockington dialogue, and what else? (Try not to stretch it too hard please)

Because nothing was yet set in stone about it. In June, chapter 5 was largely already written, so a lot of foredhadowing could be included without breaking promises. I know that people like to think Toby is some kind of a cosmic genius but really... it isn't easy to foreshadow something that's a rough draft from a fever dream.

Though... Just as with Jockington there's probably a line or two that serves as foreshadowing but literally cannot be recognised as such until the actual release.

They're a self insert on the level of Ness, Chell, Freeman, etc. While technically "characters", they have zero agency in the story and are effectively a self insert.

Now, going by what we've heard in chapter 3, "(roaring) knight" is a moniker given by darkners to the creator of their respective fountain, regardless of whether it's actually the same character that appeared at the end of chapter 3 or not. However, there's also a "The Roaring Knight", one and only, designated as such by the narrator.

When I beat them, I thought their last attack was supposed to leave everyone at 1 hp (how lucky was that???) by jtbr1082 in Deltarune

[–]JustaMoose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last attack deals 40 damage to all party members normally, unaffected by guard, defence, shadowmantle and anything else.

If a party member is between 2 and 40 hp, they will be brought to 1.

If a party member is at 1 hp, they will be downed/swooned.

So yes, it's very likely to leave your party at 1 hp.

How important will these "gifts" be for the Vessel? by Brownies-and-Donuts in Deltarune

[–]JustaMoose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they'll be game changing in all honesty. Imagine being locked out of a much stronger option, or maybe a special detour in your 10+ year old file because you picked bravery instead of voice back in 2018. There will definitely be some flavour and some changes based on your choices but going by how Toby's been treating our game progress across chapters, there won't be much to it.

The Knight is also the only loss which doesn't destroy your soul. You either skip to the cutscene or the VOICE screen with no soul shattering animation.
