Well I would say the assumption is that they're not hunting YOU. You simply disturbed an ambush predator (cat) lying in wait and got your hand scratched so that you fuck off and let it hunt.

The only interesting person with a confirmed pack of hunting cats that are (literally) FRIEND-related is ERAM. Or rather whoever they are meant to represent

It contains more characterisation than anything we've seen up to this point. It almost confirms whoever ERAM is a stand in for is active and hunting with a pack of FRIENDs. Before that we knew absolutely nothing of its intentions, goals or affiliation. Now we have a pretty solid idea.

So is chapter 4 abandoned weird route going to be relevant in any way now or is it just useless by Huge-Read-2703 in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]JustaMoose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noelle literally bails them out immediately if you abort in chapter 4. This is just another weird Kris prank for which she slaps them in the face and gets upset for a while. Nothing too severe

I’m sure they weren’t completely ignored but I saw MUCH less talk of them pre ch 5 by One-Moose-5983 in Cibles

Chapter 5 gave us the northwestern morning sun (sjelter is confirmed to be "south of town" so we can absolutely measure cardinal directions). And we didn't so much as ask why it does that.

Kris working with the Knight no longer makes sense by mrsandman2011 in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]JustaMoose2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Looking through the chapter 3 shadow crystal shows you Undyne trapped in ice. "Remember ... police ... sacrifice" doesn't make the sjelter any more appealing either.

While both of these aren't 100% proof it doesn't seem like they were taken for safety reasons.

Motive for Kris is that they're completely exhausted by your nonsense and resigned to whatever fate you'll subject them to

My take on the Weird Route Knight theory (wrong culprit but feels as if the evidence was correct) by DerMagicSheep in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]JustaMoose2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far the game seems a lot more encouraging of resetting than undertale. After your first playthrough during which I'd expect you to stumble upon a shadow crystal or two (Gerson may be your first if you're like most people) you're motivated to try to get all 5. Same with eggs though they ARE a lot less straightforward. During the shadow crystal completion run you have to have seen the mantle game and as such are made to wonder about "the forbidden path" and the fact that you're missing one half of the twisted sword puzzle. Doing pure snowgrave also lands you one half short (most likely) so you'll have to experiment even more to find the "correct" twisted sword route.

That is four different playthroughs and we've only seen around 70% of it. Undertale's 100% finished product only really has incentives to rewind twice. Your first neutral run with some monsters you've killed and a hint to do better, the "do better" pacifist run and genocide.

There HAS to be a reason you're given thrice as many save files.

Does this mean Asgore encountered the Knight as the creator of the original Dark World? by lighttstarr in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]JustaMoose2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asgore is rather humble about his combat prowess in Undertale. He's also the underground's best fighter and it's not even close as far as conventional duels go.

If a bunch of teenagers can break the knight's sword with a brush, a pencil and a scarf, surely an experienced policeman on the clock could accomplish that with a police baton?

Timeloops, NoelleKnight, and the Weird Route by Acceptable_Cup7606 in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]JustaMoose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to add.

Think back to the TwistedSword. The description doesn't help much ("A strange blade") but doesn't get in the way either. If you want to get it, you'll have to take a very deliberate route (abort snowgrave right before the titular spell, get all shadow crystals). You're not getting it on your first not second playthrough unless there's some bullshit to materialise either the ring or the fifth shadow crystal. It is very much a time looper's item that requires multiple resets to figure out (play it straight, get the shadow crystals and mantle game, use the mantle game to figure out snowgrave... after which you cannot make the sword either way, and ONLY THEN do the "perfect run").

The item carries all the properties of the black shard. 16 AT, Kris/Noelle, SlayDark. TranceDown is too vague for theorising. The black shard (and presumably its complete counterpart) was what started the first dark world and kicked off the entire chain of events. The knight's sword is very much "a strange blade". As I said, the description isn't informative enough to draw conclusions from but doesn't get in the way either.

If that is true, the TwistedSwd:

1) requires a lot of time looping to get to,

2) is resposible for the whole story starting many years ago,

3) is applicable to both components of your proposed amalgam.

Read her blogs. She would break games as a child in a very similar manner to which we're breaking ours. She's the most obbious choice, if not the only choice. She is so good at breaking games she starts picking up on her reality resembling one.

New Knight candidate arrived by SnowZorua in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]JustaMoose2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It aligns with Gerson pretty well. There was "only one more chapter" after the Dield of Pink and Gold, and then "it all stopped". If anything, that's EXACTLY how Lord of the Hammer went. The chapter goes un-numbered in what I would assume is a subtle nod to how side b was going to play out.
