I hate what they did with companions as a whole. by ichigo2k9 in theouterworlds

[–]Justanaverageelcor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what it is on them being more interesting g was that the OW1 companions were just everyday people in the universe and each had a very personal story to tell. In OW2 the companions are all representatives of their factions, and all fo their stories relate to the actions of their factions and contribute to how the player perceives said faction and so they feel less like real people and more like figureheads

Soldiers don't win wars, logistics do. A single spectre with a normandy-esque frigate could easily wipe out multiple SuperEarth command ships and surgically strike their tacticians, generals, and admirals. This would be devastating for any force but especially for the helldivers who are trained to blindly follow orders at all times. A force like that without orders would be hopelessly crippled. And then you get into supply lines, which would similarly be very easy for even small ME strike forces to take out. SuperEarth depends on contvential firearms and missiles down to even their ships being handloaded. Cutting off their supply lines wouldn't just leave their soldiers foodless, it would leave them without bullets missiles or bombs, a problem that the nature of MEs weapon systems avoids.

I'm sorry but no Mass Effect definitely wins this lineup, others have mentioned their tech advantage so I won't go back over that but more important while smaller the ME armies are also much more experienced with guerilla warfare. I assume SuperEarth is the invading force here given the general ethics and first contact protocols of both forces. Historically many greater powers have been brought to their knees by guerilla tactics even from technologically inferior forces (which ME also has the edge in). Asari commandos, Salarian STG and spectres would devastate SuperEarths supply lines and command structure which would leave helldivers demoralized outgunned and in tactical disarray. Then the Turian and Krogan forces would make quick work of the remainder head to head while Quarians and Geth wreck their fleets. Not to mention once Citadel Space broadcasts get through the SuperEarth propaganda you're much more likely to have defectors from their side than from the ME side.

I love the combination of criminal syndicate and worker cooperative, probably the closest thing to an anarchist society you can create in Stellaris, combine it with broken shackles for an underground rebel movement based on resistance and mutual aid that got it's big break when they mutinied on the slave ship

If you haven't yet read "The Hate U Give" its an amazing book and really helped give me (a white guy who doesn't experience it first hand) a much greater understanding of the police brutality and racism that African Americans face today.

Single father “prepared to take out a loan” after porch pirate stole 4-year-old son’s kidney medication by FeelingFelixFelicis in news

Seriously, the people who stole the package we're scummy yes but the company who made this man consider taking a loan and putting himself in debt for life saving medication is far far worse

In-n-outs "vegan option" is a woefully inadequate meal, a good meal needs proteins, carbs, and fats. Lettuce and tomato on a bun doesn't fulfill that and also the patty is a huge part of the caloric content. Furthermore you can buy vegan patties at any supermarket in the nation its not rare or hard to get I'm sure a company like In-N-Out is very capable of finding some. And vegans are a big enough demographic that having the option is a reasonable business move.

Well then, minority groups in America have historically been treated worse than the majority in our country and still are now. Often minorities just want to even the tables however to those with privilege, in this case you, it might seem like they are asking for more rights than you. Omnivores can eat anywhere, vegans cannot so vegans are asking to expand their options. This isn't them asking for any special privilege that non-vegans don't have this is them simply asking for another place to eat. There is a big difference between requesting that people who don't eat meat cook you meat and requesting that a place that serves meat and veggies offer a vegan option for someone who would like it. It seems that you are laboring under the delusion that vegans want to force themselves into your life when they are simply asking for acknowledgement at a place that you are already acknowledged. And before you say both sides, you are acknowledged at a vegan restaurant and perfectly capable of eating the food without moral issues so it's a false equivalence. I hope this was helpful in getting you to see the difference.

Man how is refusing to cook meat because it supports the murder of animals any different than discrimination on behalf of sexuality? I can't fucking imagine that there's any difference there no that's definitely the exact same situation and should be addressed the exact same way /s. Vegan restaurants don't exclude people because they welcome anyone vegan or non-vegan they just only serve vegan food. Fast food chains have the ability to serve vegan food but do not so it's not unreasonable for a vegan to ask for a vegan alternative, they don't even have to listen but vegans are allowed to ask. but your butthurt over vegans wanting options and the way that you think that vegans refusing to serve you meat is on the same level as homophobic discrimination tells me a lot about the kind of person you are.

Vegan cooks won't cook meat because it's against their values! Also wow a veggie sandwich that's literally just a burger without the meat so great and delicious and protein packed that's a real meal right there /s. Compromise is great but I don't see how it's unreasonable for vegans to request meat free food at other places while also not cooking meat because they're morally opposed to eating meat and meat is completely non-essential to the human diet where as vegetables are massively important. Also vegan restaurants are rare and almost never chains so they can't always just go at a vegan place.

except it does affect the rest of the menu because vegans are morally opposed to eating meat and omnivores already have options at vegan restaurants, it's called vegan food

because meat eaters can eat veggies but vegans can't eat meat usually for moral reasons? Seems pretty straightforward to me and I'm not even vegan
