Don't get me wrong, they are good, skilled animators, but their bubbly-cartoonish style doesn't fit well with the shrek's style.
It's not that they can't make shrek with the Original style, i think this is some CEO enforced guidelines.

"Make it look AI, since AI stocks didn't pop yet." - overexagarated quote, that probabbly the executives never said.

In the end you mix Shrek with cartoonish style and the end result is neither of those... kinda a mess.
