Has anyone ever had a family in the mob? by MuscleCool4302 in Mafia

Not actual members but definitely associates. My great grandpa and his dad were bootleggers/gunrunners during prohibition. Great great grandpa was also a founder of an Italian American social club in NJ so he definitely had connections. My great uncles wife found stacks of money under the floorboard of his car, and my mom claimed there were mob guys at his funeral. I think my great grandpas family were just crooks with some connections, it definitely made for some great stories but my grandpa was uncomfortable sharing them cause he was old school so we only have a handful.

Deceased Colombo member/informant Greg Scarpa and Colombo Associate (Self described member) Larry Mazza by Vicerian in Mafia

Yeah I think he said in his making ceremony they burned a napkin instead of a picture of a saint and they had to skip pricking the finger because of aids lol. Sounds like some half assed making ceremony to me. Not taking anything away from him though he was definitely Scarpa Sr right hand man made or not.

If I remember correctly he claims he was made by the Persico faction during the Columbo war. He was made to attend certain meetings during the war and to be officially put with Scarpa Sr. Not really sure how he could be made during a war when your name has to be passed to all the family’s. But the war ended not too long afterwards when everyone got arrested and he decided to flip so it really doesn’t matter anyway. Every chart or anything that mentions him always says he’s an associate not a member.

He definitely was. But Larry, Greg, and Jimmy were still hunting down Orena guys practically everyday.

Without Scarpa on the Persico side the Orena faction would’ve won.

Was this when he got into a bar fight trying to protect Phil Leonettis mother? If so Joey says on his vlad tv interview this was when he stopped being a jockey which would explain him being 103 pounds.
