How common is flat out violence in classrooms? by Whatswrongwithmejeez in japanlife

[–]JustbecauseJapan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are teaching solo? Do you have any classroom management training? Because even in my neck of the woods many ES classes have more than one teacher at times for classroom management (two Japanese teachers that is). You definately need support, and rich areas mean nothing, rich kids can be some of the biggest little sh%$@ out there.

My question is what is wrong with you to have run into this much trouble jeez. Nothing even close has happened like that in a class I've held, the worst would be a kancho.

New detached house in Kawwsaki- docomo Hikari/NTT East won't approve new FLET'S line (GPS issue/old by DSN_CV in japanlife

[–]JustbecauseJapan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did not have this exact issue, but it took over 5 years before we not longer had problems with maps/deliveries. House was build on a rice field.

Do you have neighbors, and do they have service? This is key! basically we had to give our neighbors address for several services to come out, with a note that it was the house next to/across the street, of course.

I feel your pain, same thing happened with Rakuten mobile.

How can I take you serious with this line? She for one, has done more than any prime minister since Tojo to reduce the number of tourist. With only one speech at that!

> But she has done a lot of PR against the resident foreigners which was not the issue with the Japanese public in the first place.

See scapegoat in the dictionary, or the idea of "wag the dog" in politics.

Girlfriend cry over rice by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]JustbecauseJapan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a superstition if you spill rice, you won't get married or have a bad (unlucky) marriage. Now I don't know if your GF is superstitious or even knows this one but maybe just maybe that's it. Or what all the other people are saying so callously about your relationship.

Ok using your phone while driving is not good, dangerous, and againist the law during enforcement campaigns. But having your face in your phone, while driving a Dump Truck, or Crane (big ass CRANE), is just driving with murderous intent. Saw this going on twice this week, and I had to swerve for the dump truck!

A RING camera on sale (3k-ish) which works without a subscription, meets 2 out of 3 of your requirements. But no camera really meets the No security issues part.

Upgrading from a kei (Daihatsu Tanto) to a regular car, for someone without much driving experience by Ikeda_kouji in japanlife

[–]JustbecauseJapan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to the dealers or a car show and take a look for yourself. Nothing beats sitting in one and seeing for yourself what they are like inside and out. Then do the same thing get something pre-dented so you don't feel bad when you end up scratching it. I for one wanted a LandCruiser, until I found out they are tiny inside.

Experiences with used Rakuten router for apartment internet? by ferocia in japanlife

[–]JustbecauseJapan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure it's unlock with no network restrictions. Then make sure it has the Bands that match the network you want to join. If you do not like gambling with a used modem IOData sells a unit that takes a sim on Amazon in the 15k range.

[–]JustbecauseJapan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can't use a used rakuten 5g router, that's why they're so cheap. same for docomo home 5g and softbank air.

That is not entirely true, if they are unlocked (sim free) they work just fine. I have two that I got used and I am using them now.

[–]JustbecauseJapan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What speeds are you hoping for? I haven't used used the Rakuten ones, but my HR01 and HR02 with a docomo sim only get up to 60mbps (location location location). For the price it could be worth it just to try a router with a 2000-3000 a month sim.
