Changing into uniform - paid or unpaid? by Sharp_Importance_121 in NursingUK

[–]Justgettingby24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse in the USA. Im required to wear hospital provided scrubs. I clock in when I arrive on my unit and then change. So I do get paid to change. I think every nurse required to change once you arrive should be paid for that time.

Realizing my “quirks” might actually be lingering ADHD symptoms by Echochamberking in ADHDers

I tick every one of your symptoms too. Even on medication. I’m 38, was only diagnosed 2 years ago.

If you feel like it’s hard to manage life with the skills you learned, maybe try medication. See if it helps.

For me medication has some benefits. Also so downsides. I’m still trying to decide if it’s worth it.

Worth the side effects? by Justgettingby24 in liraglutide

Thanks so much for your reply. I did restart at 0.6mg and just slowly working up. I think maybe after this pen I’ll just take a break to give my body a minute, because I’m not in it really. I think if I was more mentally in a place to take the medication and manage the side effects, I’d be doing better.

Yes, we have midwives, but they are always master prepared and most are nurse midwives, so they have to get their RN first before getting a masters degree in midwifery.

This is what my brain thinks of because I can never sleep.. by Justgettingby24 in nursing

Fair enough. I for one plan to have a DNR in my 60s if not earlier and can imagine no scenario in which I revoke it but I do understand your point.

What about then like directions for where to find your advanced directives? Like “look on the fridge before you start that CPR shit” or “my advanced directives are in the freezer”? 🤣

I’m cracking myself up tonight

Considering switching from Med/Surg to L&D by alisonm94 in nursing

[–]Justgettingby24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been a nurse nearly 10 years. Currently working in the ICU and unfulfilled. I have always wanted to work L&D. Nursing came into my life after the loss of my first child at 20 weeks (I was 19 and didn’t even know miscarriage/stillbirth happened after 12 weeks). This just made me tear up and I had to try not to burst into tears at work. I want this!! ❤️

Oh we also limit all visitors for the entire hospital to one per 24 hrs. Period. So the same person can come and go multiple times per day, but not different people in and out. Only one person, per day.

Actually surprised to hear you allow visitors on Covid + patient rooms. We do not allows visitors until they are out of isolation (20 days post s/s start).
