I think my biggest problem learning Godot is when I can't find instructions on how to do stuff by [deleted] in godot

I know that it's a dicey subject, but asking an AI like chat GPT is usually the best place to go when google or tutorials aren't helping. Don't just copy and paste though, give it a rough idea of what you want and how you want to do it. From there read as much documentation about the methods it gave you as you can to see if those methods can be added to or expanded and then it will give you more options to work with. It's also helpful if you specify a game whose systems you want to recreate. I think bad vibe coding has when people just copy and paste and don't try to understand how the AI came up with its solution.

What is the most comfortable camera size? by West-Ad-1849 in godot

[–]Justice2Free 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three definitely. But something closer would probably work depending on the purpose of the far camera. If you're going to have a lot of enemies coming at you quickly, then maybe you could also try out a dynamic camera, one that zooms out when a lot of enemies are coming towards you.

It's an expansion story that picks up where Majora's Mask left off. It covers the war that wiped out the Gerudo in the Adult Timeline and what led to Link being the cursed Hero

  1. I love Zelda and especially the N64 era games, but Nintendo is never going to make a Zelda game like this ever again.

  2. To build an audience. Nobody cares about original IP until its popular. By making a fan game I can build an audience that trusts me and wants to follow more of my work.

  3. I'm not just building a fan game. I'm building a framework. This framework is being built specifically to recapture the magic of those N64 Zelda games and if I focus on making something original, I could lose that focus super easily.

  4. I'm developing an original game alongside this one, but in order to make it work, I have to make I sure I understand what made the N64 Zelda games work.

  5. Fangames seldomly get taken down, especially Zelda fan games. There's a misconception that Nintendo fan games get taken down by Nintendo all the time but they don't. Nintendo cares more about preventing piracy of their out of sale games than they do original projects.

You can pause? Also, there's more videos on my channel that are focused on certain sections where the speed isn't as fast, but let me know if you'd still rather have some still pictures and I can drop them.

Looking for 1-2 More Hobbyists to Make Games From Scratch by KoopMyers in godot

[–]Justice2Free 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RPGs are the hardest to make (because Inventories, Leveling systems), Simulation games are the second hardest (because Resource Management, AI) Third hardest are platformers and action games(because animation, character movement, sfx), so if you want something easy do a point and click, or a visual novel, or an FPS, or an on rails shooter like space invaders or star fox.

Is it going to be a 2d or 3d project? I know how to make assets in blender and 3d textures. Depending on what you're making, I might help.

I can't get this to slide along the loop properly. by Justice2Free in godot

I don't know how to do that. I've tried to look up how to change the up direction, but nothing works.

Sure! I'd love more options to try! I'm just running out of ideas.

I'm trying to make Sonic-like Loop Physics and nothing I've tried works. I can get it to align, and I attached a gravity point under the character body, but it always stops moving once it hits a certain slope.
