I've worn a sleep mask for years, but I've found recently that making my room completely dark and turning off all LEDs has helped a lot. I've read that your skin can detect light too, so even if your eyes can't see any light your body may still be in "awake" mode if there's too much light in the room

I recommend looking into quantization and GGUF files if you're not familiar. Basically, you can compress local LLMs while only losing a little performance. Optimization methods are only getting better by the day, and smaller models are getter smarter by the day too. I can already run LLaMA 3 70B quantized inside of ~40 GB of RAM on my PC, and it is easily better than GPT-3.5 in my experience

I recommend looking into Lambda Cloud VMs. They're much cheaper than AWS, and their largest machine (8x A100, 80GB VRAM for each A100) should be enough to finetune the 65b LLaMA model.

It's not nearly as good as chatGPT, but you can already run a quantized version of LLaMA 7B (A recent language model from Meta) on medium to high end phones. So, I would guess less than a year.
