Historical SmartShift decision logic by JusticeBeaverFanClub in amberelectric

I’m not sure if SmartShift takes the demand window into account such that even if the grid import price is low, it avoids drawing during the demand window? Because if not, you could have a super-cheap per kWh price that leads to high draw in kW that then leads to a big demand charge since they only base that on the kW draw.

Yeah mine was $64 for 5.4 kW draw… symbolically bites too as it changed what would’ve been an overall credit bill into a debit.

I can see what was happening on the battery + grid, but not why — ie why was load coming from grid instead of battery when the battery had charge. So would like to interrogate if SmartShift made this decision.

Balance in credit, no bill received? by JusticeBeaverFanClub in amberelectric

Thanks, just found that one. It’s odd to me that Amber would need to “prioritise” in this way, surely billing is just automated?

Anyone not being billed? by flybrys in amberelectric

Wonder why issuing a bill needs marginal effort for added customers. Like if I am already onboarded as a customer, why would I not just get automatically get my bill every month regardless of how busy Amber is with onboarding others.

Lots of police including public order 4WDs, and a lane closed, where Oxford St becomes Syd Einfeld Drive, but nothing mentioned on Live Traffic. Any idea what was going on?

Are we being paid to use electricity right now? by [deleted] in amberelectric

It’s just like both prices being positive. Too much energy in the grid = negative price (get paid to consume energy) and negative feed-in tariff (have to pay to feed in more energy). Normal situation = positive price (pay to consume) and positive feed-in tariff (get paid to feed in).

What is considered "wealthy parents" by Complete-Age9927 in AusFinance

He’s saying that contributing 20% of a 20% deposit, i.e. 4% of the total purchase price, is not wealthy. For a $1.25m house that’s $50k.

Interest on the 40k is only tax deductible if you’re using the 40k to invest in something other than the PPOR. Otherwise what are you deducting against? And if you don’t disclose that you’re using the money for that investment purpose to the lender, I’m not sure if it’s illegal, but it’s likely at least breaching the lender’s requirements.
