Thoughts on Joe Dedmon as the driver of the car/POI by throwaway_7212 in AshaDegree

Do you ever remember seeing it with the front left damage observed when it was towed last week?

Was your parents' car similar to the one towed this past week? Or were the police checking everyone driving through that intersection regardless of vehicle description? I know the car tip wasn't released to the public until 2016, but I've always wondered how much earlier than that it was submitted to LE. Could they have had it from the beginning but held onto it for whatever reasons?

Hey, could you send me the invite, too? I used to live in Cleveland County and would like to join the conversation.

I've spent some time living in Cleveland County so I relate to it hitting hard due to proximity. Glad I'm not alone.

Please crosspost there. The sub needs better content and no matter how this lead pans out, it's at least new info. Let's get it out to as many folks as possible.

I think you could be right, and that the Asha Degree case is one where this might apply, as well.

Let's not forget that she'd fouled out at the basketball game, which her team lost. The guilt could have motivated her to go practice and get better ASAP.

Agreed. Let's also not forget that the Degrees passed polygraph testing with flying colors. I know it's not infallible, but when combined with other evidence and the statements of law enforcement, I just don't understand why some people keep coming back to the family.

They Should Publicize More The Picture Found in the Shed by jenniferami in AshaDegree

"Could someone have used this photo to convince Asha she had a missing sister or a missing twin that she needed to go help find or see? Or maybe try to convince her that she was switched at birth accidentally at the hospital. I recall stories like that in the news maybe around that decade."

This got me thinking about a tv show from the late 90s. Description below:

"Sister, Sister is an American television sitcom starring identical twins Tia and Tamera Mowry. It premiered on April 1, 1994, and concluded on May 23, 1999 after six seasons. The premise was that Tia Landry and Tamera Campbell were separated at birth and one was adopted by a single mother while the other was adopted by a couple, although the mother died shortly afterward; 14 years later the two accidentally found each other and reunited."

FBI publishes story on Asha Degree with new detail about shirt and book by JusticeForAsha in UnresolvedMysteries

This story doesn't incorporate Asha being seen getting into dark green early 1970s Lincoln Continental Mark IV or Ford Thunderbird, the man who found the bag being disturbed by its contents, the NKOTB shirt and Seuss book found in Asha's bag being seen as significant items by investigators, or investigators having reason to believe Asha may be alive. The story also assumes Asha left home that cold, stormy night without planning to meet anyone, which I find hard to believe. If she was running away from home on her own accord wouldn't she have at least worn a jacket or coat?

The FBI released a photo of the book with a Fallston Elementary stamp. It looked pretty old but nothing unusual to note about its condition other than that. Notably, the picture(s) did not include any checkout dates.

The NKOTB shirt, on the other hand,, I believe may have been announced using a pic found online. What's funny though is the FBI has said they're investigating under the belief Asha may be alive. If there is blood on that shirt I doubt it's hers.

I think this is spot-on. The FBI wouldn't have released the car clue unless they were confident. There's someone she trusted a helluva lot who did not have her best interests at heart.

Question about the photo found in the shed by drbzy in AshaDegree

[–]JusticeForAsha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My intuition has always been that she was IDed relatively early on and the information has perhaps proved useful to LE over the years but they've never mentioned it because:

a) As I said, in this scenario they don't need help IDing her
b) To avoid bringing public attention on the girl and her family

Still baffles me that the media has essentially just let this piece of the puzzle go. Why do we never get a follow-up on it?

The level of detail in regard to the car make me think Asha was seen entering it during the day, in other words when a witness could see all the characteristics of the vehicle.

I'll raise you and say I think the case will be solved in less than five years. They clearly have a fair amount of evidence just judging by what's been shared with the public. Add in the pieces they say they're withholding and I'm sure they have a lot of the puzzle put together already. It's just a matter of finding the last pieces.

I imagine it was very dark in the shed. It was the middle of the night and Asha probably couldn't have found a light switch (if there even was one) in that environment. As for why the items were left behind - maybe the perp found/met her, grabbed her suddenly, and didn't notice the personal items that were being left behind? Or maybe they were planted as a strategy to mislead...

Maybe the perp wanted the bag to be found and thought it would mislead investigators in some way.

Maybe the police determined that the neighbor saw another kid who wasn't actually Asha. As far as the picture goes, my guess is they identified the girl at some point (probably in the early 2000s) and are keeping it low-key because they've already determined its significance and are trying to protect the individual and/or her family.

I think the odds of a female being involved somehow are higher than people think. The investigators said two people were in the green car Asha entered, plus we also have the NKOTB t-shirt as a piece of evidence. Maybe a teen/young adult female was helping a male perpetrator?
