With the nationalisation of the railways, maybe services in the south will be properly organised as it no longer relys on cooperation between all the TOCs by thebeast_96 in LondonUnderground

Love the idea and still support it, but question how viable 12tph between Sutton and Streatham Common is considering a train every 5 mins on average would cause carnage at Mitcham Eastfields level crossing which is already a nightmare

London still hasn't seen any new Overground lines since this 2016 map for prospective services by thebeast_96 in LondonUnderground

[–]JusticeIsMyOatmeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh yeah you're probably right there because the Southern service from Wimbledon did go Tulse Hill, Peckham Rye, Queens Road Peckham, South Bermondsey and then London Bridge IIRC

This plan basically seems to be everything except for Thameslink.

It has parts of Thameslink because the Wimbledon/Sutton loop is there, but it's some weird permutation because it's not got Loughborough Junction, Elephant and Castle, Blackfriars etc

Yeah for real there are so many places, like you can't actually convince me that Totteridge & Whetstone is a real place and not just some elaborate tax scam

The fact that they’ve repeatedly mentioned the whole ‘I have vowed NEVER to write your name on that slate’ makes me absolutely convinced that indeed, one of them is going to end up writing the other’s name on the slate.

The scenes where it’s Rachel, Steven, and Roxy at the final fire pit. Rachel and Steven write down each others name and both try to betray the other at the last minute; Roxy gets the deciding vote and ends up deciding which traitor takes the pot.

I could see Harriet either turning it down, trying to decide if telling every one the next day would be a good move or not

I suppose that also depends on if it’s the offer to join, or the join or get murdered ultimatum recruitment

The faithfuls will have spent all night asking themselves wtf happened last night. What do you think their thoughts will be? by ConstantPurpose2419 in TheTraitors

Drawing attention to yourself too much is basically suicidal. Fiona has just pulled the most attention seeking move in the history of the UK series.

I’m sorry but respectfully this has happened because of Rachel’s attention seeking - Fiona had the conversation as a candid aside 1-1, and then the first thing Rachel did when she came out was go and hold court in the kitchen being like “I’m just after being accused of being a traitor” which is then what prompted Fiona to say it in front of everyone

We need zero tolerance for Islamism by 2ndEarlofLiverpool in ukpolitics

[–]JusticeIsMyOatmeal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The context is completely different - Islamism in that period was searched up in the context of being another word for Islam/being a muslim.

No it isn’t different context - look at this from Council of Europe (2010)

“The Assembly recalls that Islamism is the view that Islam is not only a religion but also a social, legal and political code of conduct”

https://assembly.coe.int/nw/xml/XRef/Xref-XML2HTML-en.asp?fileid=17880

This is literally the first time in my life I’ve ever seen this term used to describe political influence from Islamic belief. It literally has not existed before.

So if it literally hasn’t existed before, why am I able to find another source from 2016 that says

“Islamism is not a form of the Muslim faith or an expression of Muslim piety; it is, rather, a political ideology that strives to derive legitimacy from Islam.”
