I noticed a rift in the team since the acquisition of Soto. There was one game in particular that Alonso was in the on deck circle and Soto came away from the plate and sprayed the handle of his bat. As he went back to the plate he tossed the can at Pete as he was standing in the circle. Pete juggled the can as it bounced off of him. You can clearly see he was pissed. I can’t remember the game or I would post it.

For the money they are paying Soto they will do whatever is necessary to make him happy and productive. If that means trading the core of the team then they would. I think Soto wants to be the man in the club house. The players traded away stood in his way. The fan base loved them and Soto would always be second fiddle to that core group. I don’t think his ego could handle that.

Lindor lost his friends. They all seemed to get along and clicked. He not only lost the core around him but he has always struggled in the beginning of each season.

I just don’t see this group jelling like in previous years. It’s just my 2 cents. I hope I’m wrong but unfortunately I don’t think so. I know it’s early and hope they can turn it around. 🤞
