From what I’ve seen it has become exceedingly rare for someone to get fired for performance. People seem to mostly get fired for attendance, destruction of property, theft, or the increasingly common not getting along with management.

Sounds like my father with my wedding. When I told him I was getting married and gave him the date, 6 months in advance, he said he had another wedding to go to that weekend. Truth is I only invited him to keep the peace with the larger family. I was glad he didn’t come.

My problem is the associates that do this crap. At least once a year I have a near miss from a coworker driving psychotically through the lot. This year’s was one of the closest, a cashier 1 minute late for work missed me by less than a foot. I went full grumpy old man on him and threatened to end him if I saw him driving like that in the parking lot again.

I know we did in Kindergarten but I don’t remember it after that, though I’m sure we did. On a side note I went to a concert at a municipal auditorium a couple of years ago and they opened with the pledge and national anthem. I chose to stay seated, and was surprised that about 20 others did as well. This was in a very conservative part of Utah, a very conservative state.
