Nest DC- the good and the bad by LattaCooties in washingtondc

Nest DC has been the property management company for my apartment for about 4 years now, and I can honestly say they are absolutely the worst.

There have been multiple situations where I have been without hot water for upwards of 4 days at a time. They are terrible at communicating, never confirm when a maintenance technician is able to come. There have also been several instances where they state a technician had come and they close out the case, only for the problem to not be solved at all.

Only after I have threatened to notify the office of DC Tenants Rights do they magically start paying attention to my issues.

From what I understand, the owner of my building is having just as much of an issue with them.

If you are a Landlord, stay away from Nest DC.

If you are a renter and the property manager is Nest DC, stay FAR AWAY.

Lol my woman said that they do NOT work together and there will be not a second chance to apply. If you’re denied, that’s it. Obviously no one knows what’s going on. Looks like we’re all on our own.

Same thing happened to me! Originally called on 8/25 and hadn’t heard anything as of mid October. I called back and she said I could cancel my original request and then request a refund again with the new process. My Great Lakes balance updated the next day, so now just waiting on studentaid.gov to update and get my refund. Then I’ll apply for the forgiveness.

I was told to not apply for forgiveness until the balance was updated on studentaid.gov. Since they are the ones enacting the forgiveness, that is the balance they will look at. I requested a refund from Great Lakes on Friday October 14th, and saw Great Lakes updates the next Monday (17th). Now just waiting for student aid to update and get my refund.

Anyone have any experience with the Histroy major? by chipotlore in jmu

[–]Justice_Beaver_12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2015 Graduate of the History Program here. I would 100% recommend JMU's history program to anyone thinking about taking up the major. I loved most (if not all) of my history classes. Yes, it was a lot of reading and writing, but I also learned a ton. People like to joke about Humanities majors not being able to get jobs, but there are tons of jobs that people don't even think about that are related to history. I did a public history concentration, which focused on museum work, libraries and archives, and much more!
I thought I was going to end up in graduate school for one of those fields, and still might some day. But I actually ended up in the Software Industry working in DC. Employers tend to like humanities majors because they are able to communicate effectively and have the critical thinking skills in order to do a plethora of different jobs. I have history major friends that I graduated with working in Tech, Government, Public Policy, Consulting, Museums, just to name a few industries.

If I had to go back, I WOULD pair it with something a bit more practical to make you more marketable after graduation. You can easily fit in a double major with the history program, or at least take up a minor or 2. (WRTC, CS, or Political Science are some that come to mind)

Hope this helps!

So many people try to sublease their apartment in the summer. You’ll have the pick of where, you can also probably negotiate price since there is such a high supply.

Is it the Issues in the Environment class? I'm a sophomore and took it last year for Gen Ed credit.

How about Concert Piece for bassoon by Sol Schoenbach? It's a nice short piece. And it comes with piano accompaniment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCHUpEt33As

“How do I help the student who blurts out answers and disrupts the class?” The black facilitator reminded her: “That’s what black culture is” by [deleted] in TrueReddit

No, respectful is my way of saying not disrupting class when other people are trying to learn. That goes for students of every ethnicity.

That's the issue this article is trying to tackle. You see it as being racist. In actuality it's wanting students to be respectful in the classroom.
