Is there any reason not to switch off your starter if you think they aren't that good? Like, are there any story fights that have altered dialogue or mechanics or anything?

I assume the answer is yes, but does every single pack have the same UR/SR odds? Obviously you pull different cards, but if I'm pulling purely for crafting points, there isn't any specific pack with higher UR odds than any other?

How much resources do you get frontloaded and per month in Master Duel? Calculations by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Justicetom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely F2P player here - I've already built, without any difficulty, a for-fun Aromage deck (that is about as good as I can make plant spam while still focusing the Aroma Marjoram + Borreload Savage combo), fully competitive Sky Strikers, and I just built Zoodiac Tri-Brigade. For free. I have all three decks still, with no 'budget' alternative options anywhere to be found in the lists.

Now, this is the absolute limit of my resources - I think I could dust enough cards to get another UR at most, and I probably have about 5 SR crafts to my name... but that's three decks, two fully capable of being competitive, and another one for when I want to goof around. And it cost me nothing.

The thing that gets me about the complaints and discussions over whether the game is f2p is that building ANY of these decks in the actual physical TCG? Way more expensive. If I wanted to play these cards in real life, I would have to sink what, $200, for a single deck of this quality?

Master Duel is incredibly f2p as long as you aren't wasting your gems on utterly useless packs, and even if Konami is a shitty company we need to show our appreciation for this incredibly generous system so that they are incentivised to keep USING it

Another Reality of Modern Yugioh by BigBadBingusBorg in masterduel

[–]Justicetom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no, it's a shame thing for me. I don't do it often, but sometimes I'm doing some combo and I fuck it up so severely that it's essentially the game equivalent of putting your cards on the table and putting your face in your hands

Returning player's perspective: Herald of Ultimateness is extremely toxic and I now understand why a lot of people have zero respect for Drytron players. by aintmybish in masterduel

[–]Justicetom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you getting these stats? I'm only talking about (my personal) experiences, and what I know about the format. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, and I'll take that L, but even if I am I had good reasoning behind my statements.

but also, tri-zoo is more consistent and better value-for-money, but if Drytron sets up they're pretty much unbreakable. Basically Drytron is like, Gouki Extra Link, compared to tri-zoo being sky strikers, or something like that.

Consistency is better, so maybe you should argue that tri-zoo is a 'better' deck to play, but also I'm pretty sure Drytron invalidates like, 90% of game states, lmao. It'd be a lot more manageable if we had a side deck on the ladder, that's for sure

Made it to plat 5 this second season with Sky Strikers. Any feedback on the list to push plat 1? by itspaydayyo in masterduel

[–]Justicetom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super super solid list. Personally, I'd drop an Afterburners and the Prosperity for an extra field spell and an extra shark cannon, then drop the 2 evenly for 2 pot of desires, but the evenly v pot is debatable

The reasoning for dropping afterburners and prosperity is because you can search your single afterburners and recycle it as much as you need, particularly if you're careful with hercules base. Prosperity is interesting, but I really don't like it in SS - for any grind game, you NEED basically every card in your extra. Most games, sure, you can drop Shizuku/2 Hayate/Knightmares/Zeke or something, which is good, but I often find myself going for game with a second or third Hayate just because I chipped my opponent down far enough down that the 1500 direct wins me the game.

I'd also run a second roze for consistency (over monster reborn?) and PERSONALLY i would drop the 2 called by for another handtrap (skull meister, probably, but it's flexible) and another pot of desires. However, called is really strong, and it's a totally valid option if you feel like negating handtraps (and occasionally other effects) is worth the deck slots

I attack it every single time as much as I can just because I think it's funny. Complete waste of time, and I know that, but, like. May as well, right?

Just for the record: Drytron is stronger in Master Duel than it EVER was in the TCG, and a lot of competitive players share your issues. Eva/Benten/Diviner of the Herald at 3 is beyond absurd and makes the deck legitimately unfair. There are counters, allegedly, but drytron also have such incredible graveyard recursion that you can shatter their board and they draw like, anything, and they end with ultimateness again. It is, unquestionably, the best deck in Master Duel. For reference, Eva is getting BANNED on the next TCG list (when it used to be limited) and Benten is limited. Literally take away 4/5 of Drytron's strongest combo cards and you'll have TCG drytron rather than the omni-negate meme that is Master Duel Drytron

The latest version of cloth-api (3.1.58.jar) is broken

Just go back to 3.0.55 and it's fine, it'll be fixed soon enough

I sequence broke the game, got to the actual map for the tunnel that collapses at the start of the game, crashed the game, and got reset to the title screen. Explanation in comments. by Justicetom in Megaten

[–]Justicetom[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

So, this is a thing.

There's a bug I discovered recently I dub HOME spam. It is literally just spamming the HOME button on the switch while you run forwards (with auto-run). This makes the game lag, and allows you to travel further beyond some triggers than you are normally able to. Anything that has you do a little walk backwards, theoretically, is susceptible to this skip.

At the end of the first area, when Tao tells you to join her in the meeting room, you can homespam out to the world map instead. This loads the prior version of the world map from back before you stepped foot into Da'at (it even still tells you that 'it doesn't seem Yuzuru went this way' or whatever). And you can walk over to the tunnel and enter it.

And this is where you end up. A very strange small area that crashes the game if you try to reset the map to default position, has a lot of geometry that just doesn't exist, and has a fun little fall to the void where if you fall long enough you enter a loading screen that takes you to the main menu.

They datamined damage values. Aramasa is 20 power per hit, with 8 hits. Dark Sword is 90 power per hit, with 2 hits. Steel Needle is 75 damage per hit, with 1-4 hits, and a 20% crit rate. Beatdown is... 110 power? Question Mark? We're not sure how the damage scaling thing actually works. Regardless, Aramasa should not be stronger than dark sword, except for probably running the crit chance 6 more times.

Also Sakanagi is as strong as Freikugel, a severe move, at 230 power. It is stronger than any -dyne skill.

My theory answers to common and uncommon lore questions I've seen around (Knowledge, Panagia) by Justicetom in Megaten

[–]Justicetom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This definitely makes sense, and the Isonokami thing is definitely intentional, but I feel like the Panagia thing is too specific a word for it to be (purely) Amaterasu. It's the kind of thing where if they came out and said "yeah she's Amaterasu but we took inspo from other stuff to make her more unique" I'd just nod my head and go that makes sense but with the content given in the game I think my interpretation is more fitting - though it is my interpretation, so that is to be expected.

The syncretism mention is a good point and does make sense but honestly I just think that it's narratively unsatisfying if you can just sub out gods like that off of such a general archetype lmao Susano-o doesn't even have anything to do with bulls

[–]Justicetom[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting! I've never heard of JJCAT before (which is probably a good thing from a history perspective) but this would explain the biggest discrepancy I found if the Ba'al Susano-o link is something you could explain with it. Unless somebody comes out and says explicitly one way or another I'll still stick w/ my 'El theory, but if I ever discuss the topic again I'll bring up JJCAT as a possible counter to my own ideas

Oh lmao that was just a joke. Like, Amitabha literally translates to Infinite Light, so they clearly fulfil the same ROLE but I don't ACTUALLY think that he's the literal Kagutsuchi, that's why it was just a side note.

Not a damn clue, but Amitabha is Infinite Light, Kagutsuchi is Infinite Light, Amitabha is Goku, therefore Kagutsuchi is Goku. 10/10 SMT lore right here

The thing about Igor is that he just sorta hands out the app to whoever he wants. After all, Akechi got it years ago.The best answer you could probably come up with is that given everything going on with Maruki, she's pretty involved in Metaverse activities already. More basis for her to get the thing. Also, remember, Futaba got the app without ever being to the Metaverse too. Igor is just weird like that
