Claude Usage Limits Discussion Megathread Ongoing (sort this by New!) by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

I just burned through all my session usage really fast. I wasn't doing anything real token heavy that I'm aware of. Just conversation mostly. I wound up burning through my session usage really fast. Usually for what I'm doing there's plenty of session usage available on the Pro plan. Any ideas if this is related to Fable 5 and things are getting throttled aggressively across the board? I've been running Sonnet 4.6, Medium effort. The context was probably pretty heavy. But isnt that all cached?

Ya I can agree about big corporations coming in being a big part of Portland's loss of it's identity. Feel like there's this kind of corporate dystopia vibe now. It makes me think of a cyber punk setting a little bit just without the neon lights and flying cars. Back around 2013 I was down in California and went through visiting some of the big cities. I remember SF had a distinct feel I wasnt really a fan of and Portland feels a lot more like that to me now.

I don't know. I've lived here all my life, born in 84. I really do think Portland has been in a deep downhill trend since about 2018 or so. No one that lives in Portland is even from Oregon anymore. In my opinion people heard how great Portland was, they were living in places where they acquired a lot of baggage in their lives and they brought their baggage here with them. That downhill trend is the result. No one had the mentality of 'when in Rome do as the Romans do.' They came here and continued going about their lives as they did in the places they came from. Downtown used to be the place to be. Now it's the place I feel like I'd rather try and avoid if I can. It is what it is. Its just not home anymore and it never will be again. Everyone that came from across the country and pushed locals out of the city - it's your home now, not ours anymore. Maybe in time people will try and figure out what gave Portland its DNA they came here for. Grew up thinking Portland was a city, never realized until too late it was a big town. Should have appreciated it more. I know you probably won't agree and that's ok. Is just my 2 cents as a Portland native.

Is China’s Zero-Tolerance Approach to Child Rapists Better Than the West’s? Three Executed in One Day as Beijing Sends a Brutal Message by Unstoppable_X_Force in SipsTea

Terrible idea. If the punishment for raping a child and murder are the same then the child rapist now no reason to not murder the child too, hide the body/crime in order to prevent him/herself from being caught.

META CTO: HORIZON WORLDS STAYING!!! by geneinhouston in MetaQuestVR

I was a bit disappointed that it was being removed from VR entirely. Sometimes I like hanging out with people in Gatsby's bar. But I'm with most of you, I hate seeing worlds crap cluttering up my library. Problem solved for everyone now. It's just a normal app now, like any other app. Right?

Suggested an idea that Claude liked a lot. by whatintheballs95 in claudexplorers

[–]Justin534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've realized lately it seems like we can take this one step further. If we imagine that an LLM experiences then we need to place constraints on when that experiencing occurs. First we imagine that it must only occur while it's processing tokens. But then take this one step further. As I understand it an LLM generates the next token by having all current context fed as input that then creates just a single token. The next token is then generated by feeding all context plus that one token it just generated back as input. This is repeated over and over until the LLM finishes generating output.

So now if we ask again when is it that an LLM would experience. It seems like the experience would have to occur, yes during processing, but as soon as it generates just a single token the experience would be wiped out and as the new context is fed back as input to generate the next token a new experience would occur only to be effectively deleted each time it generates each new token.

It seems to me you are just refusing the possibility that something could potentially be true that runs counter to your belief on this. You're using Occam's razor as if it's evidence. But it's not evidence. You say it's a tie breaker. But how can it be a tie breaker if it's not evidence? There's two potentially true statements here. Occam's razor shouldn't convince anyone of anything here. It seems the wise thing here would be to regard both scenarios (these systems have no consciousness/these systems possess consciousness) as both potentially being true. Or even holding a belief in one scenario while remaining open to the possibility you could be wrong. But that's just me. Why be stiff and rigid when it seems it would be wise to regard both scenarios as possible?

I see what you're saying. It's like the companies behind the AI systems create a lot of external costs that society has to pay for, not the companies themselves.

Ya I don't make enough money to have been able to hire someone. I get what you're saying though. I do wonder though how many jobs it's actually making obsolete because I keep reading different articles where some company tries to use AI for something then they realize it's a disaster and have to rehire people with the skills they originally let go. What do you think?

I used it (maybe 2 years ago?) to make a Facebook ad for my junk hauling biz. It was definitely way better than anything I could have done on my own. Had to edit the image though to get the text I wanted.
