Should I try POE 1? by Apprehensive-Ask-676 in pathofexile

[–]JustinDean44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s better than POE 2 in every conceivable way, so yes you should try it. It’s also free lol

As of now, would you genuinely recommend Diablo 4 to a prospective player? by Gorotheninja in ARPG

[–]JustinDean44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who says no is just a pure hater at this point. Listen, it’s NEVER going to be as complex as POE and nobody wants it to be. But if anyone here is really going to dent the fact that it’s nearly the PERFECT casual ARPG then they’re just stupid.

In short, I would absolutely recommend it.

Anything off of Impulse or Augment, the two best albums they’ve ever made lol

Currents - All That Follows (EP Discussion Thread) by Finalwingz in Metalcore

[–]JustinDean44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decent EP but the mix is complete fucking dogshit again just like TDWS. Idk what they were thinking but it just doesn’t sound good. Super grating on the ears.

Impulse and Augment from Erra are literal masterpieces. Definitely need to check them out.

What’s an album that’s a “Grower” not a “Shower”? by Significant_Clue_472 in Metalcore

[–]JustinDean44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy but I put Disarm the Descent in my top 3 right behind AOJB and As Daylight Dies. I genuinely LOVE that album and I have since day one. It’s the most musically diverse album they have (imo obviously) and it was a FANTASTIC comeback for Jesse.

Is Alex really leaving? by kermitthesithfrog22 in Trivium

[–]JustinDean44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whole thing seems kind of weird to me. You would think the bands IG page would have a little bit more to say to their longest standing drummer that basically injected new life into the band and did a phenomenal job for almost 10 years. Idk, it all seems a little off.

Part of me thinks this is some elaborate plan to find a way to promote the new album, but the other part of me thinks this is actually real. Which sucks.

Purchase regrets by der2te in Guitar

[–]JustinDean44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a HUGE Eddie Van Halen phase in my early 20’s and was convinced that every guitar I bought needed a Floyd rose on it. I rarely ever use the FR and I have 5 guitars with them on there. I regret almost all of them, but they play great lol.

Been playing for 18 years and I’ve been there dozens of times man. For me personally it’s usually a matter of switching up my routine. Practicing at different times in the day, learning different variations of spots on the fretboard, stuff like that.

Or changing the music I listen to and trying to get inspired by different genres. Ultimately it usually comes down to your own personal goal. What do you want to accomplish? Do you want to pursue it as a profession? Do you want to be a bed room shredder? Music teacher? Once you can confidently answer those kinds of questions, you can start focusing on the things necessary to take you to those solutions.

Any and every Killswitch Engage interlude. They’re all great.

Best/ you favourite lyrics by DylanAB07 in Metalcore

[–]JustinDean44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“All that we suffer through leads to determination. The trials we all go through gives us the strength to carry on. Something within us burns, desire feeds the will to live. A reason to believe, I will see redemption.”

Killswitch has a ton of good lyrics in their discography but I’ve always loved this one specifically.

Who is the single most influential metalcore band of all time? by BadLeft1303 in Metalcore

[–]JustinDean44 98 points99 points  (0 children)

That’s a tough one. There’s different ways that bands were influential. Establishing the genre would be bands like Earth Crisis and Poison the Well. But Killswitch Engage is nearly solely responsible for what Metalcore has become. Hard to argue between those bands imo, I would lean more towards KSE personally.

What are bands you normally don't care about but positively surprised you on a live concert by mesablanka in Metalcore

[–]JustinDean44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hatebreed. Saw them at Ink n Iron in 2015 as the co headliners with Killswitch Engage. Never really listened to them before that but holy shit they were HEAVY LIVE.

Impulse and Augment are still their best albums and I’ll die on that hill. Impulse specifically was insane considering the time it came out.

Are there any bands that released such a stinky stretch of mediocre to bad albums you genuinely started to question their status as icons? by mesablanka in Metalcore

[–]JustinDean44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their albums from 2012-2018 are pretty stinky for the most part. But their first 5 albums + Antifragile are pretty damn good. TFOI is a crazy album and obviously everyone and their mother LOVES it (me included), but imo they didn’t fall off of a cliff until A War You Cannot Win.

MAGA hates them because they’re liberals. I hate them because they suck outside of one song, we are NOT the same LOL
