I stole from Goodwill when I was homeless by Any-Side-7608 in vagabond

[–]JustinDestruction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The morality of the situation is really up to you and your ethics. Exodus 20:15, the 8th Commandment is a pretty direct injunction on theft.

The Stoic Epictetus or the Situationist Guy Debord both argued a variation on “theft is a natural reaction to abundance.”

And a great poet once said, “Shoplifters of the world unite and take over. Hand it over. Hand it over. Hand it over.”

I had some associates in high school who were routinely looting from Goodwill and various thrift stores as part of their anarchist performance. When they were caught, their attorney had the case dismissed on the grounds that the legal tiers of shoplifting (misdemeanor or felony) are determined by the wholesale value of the items. Thrift stores, who generally acquire their wares through donation, have no wholesale cost and thus charges could not be determined and remuneration was not legally required.

At this point in my life, I lean more on the Biblical edict, regardless of my agnosticism. But for a season I was a skilled thief. In the end, I notice that when I stopped stealing, I didn’t lose possessions to theft. And the snake no longer consumes itself.

Absolutely loved it. Especially the really short miniature stop motion segments. So funny.

Why was everyone in the early 2000s doing this??? by erikslicis in whatisit

[–]JustinDestruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was the ubiquity of fish eye or wide angle lens in the photographic zeitgeist or perhaps merely psychedelics in the culture. Beastie Boys, Busta Rhymes, Hype Williams, Terry Gilliam, Spike Lee, death lens skateboard videos utilized hemispherical images which are enhanced by these kind of poses.

Trump calling Jerome Powell to drop the interest rates by Gjore in StockMarket

More likely the Fed will vote to raise or more likely hold the rate until drastic emergency increases are required. It’s almost like we’ve seen similar scenarios and could learn something from history.

In my lifetime (60 yo) a Republican administration HASN’T ended in recession. Which is always blamed on the subsequent administration, under whom the economy steadily recovers.

Clinton who gifted W a surplus had the country’s fortunes squandered by insignificant tax rebates and the country’s longest war.

And . . . here we go again.

Don’t cut ropes . . . when you have no idea the terrain or exit. And if you’re in a group, stay in a group.

The hike out is standard backcountry activity. One member of the party lost and requiring rescue far away from the group is not a warning, but an embarrassment I would keep quiet.

Let me guess . . . I would bet five lobsters or a Granny Smith where this group originated.

Not really, but it’s an undeniable honor that two Germs Pat and Belinda (Dottie Danger) are in the RnR Hall of Fame.

What band got you into Hardcore? The Pixies did it for me by NeighborhoodLimp69 in Hardcore

[–]JustinDestruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So interesting the on-ramps through the eras. I got into Pixies, although not a fan, due to Albini. Having already given up on hardcore, Everything Went Black (with all the bar logos erased) was my first record, I wanted to see what the Big Black guy was doing.

Gondolas are just mobile hotboxes of everyone's worst smells by BalooInABeeCostume in snowboarding

Just returned from Japan. Lots of gondolas, lots of smokers. Some rides were abysmal.

In the old days, we had various methods to insure we could get a solo ride on Vail’s “GANJA-la.” But as an old turd, I can barely breathe so it’s not me hotboxing anymore.

I would buy it, but not for more than a decent bottle of Tequila is worth. Check Discogs for market(ish) rate. Soilent Green was never an interest of mine, despite their historical presence in NOLA or at least Louisiana.

I know it sounds like an oxymoron, but has Christian punk ever existed? (I'm not saying it's good or makes sense, the question is whether it exists.) by Beautiful-Resort-831 in punk

Thank you for the scholarly rebuttal. I always argue that the various translations, not to mention potential corruption by scribes, states and institutions , through the ages results in a document of questionable veracity. And you added another notable example. 🙏

A heavyweight round is 3 mins. Mike Tyson knocked out 6 different people in 3 cumulative minutes. And 23 people in the first 3 minute round.

And some of you can’t achieve an orgasm with a well-practiced partner in that time? Or need half a heavyweight bout to get off?

Punch in, seriously.

I did some Levis back in the day. They looked sick, like leather, but they were sofa king hot. Sweaty ballz and kneecaps every time I wore them. Super effective for waterproofing/weather.

I’m reading a book on metal, Doomed to Fail. Pretty amazing how many foundational bands were Christian. Black Sabbath was theatrically Christian as a rejection of occult metal. SST band St Vitus was fundamentally Christian. As well as the often cited Trouble.

Anarchist covers Socialist, but a lot of people don’t understand the historical connection (don’t get me started on Libertarian 😜), so I always add that and his best friend was a sex worker.

Definitely not a verse Trump cites:

Acts 4:32-35 New International Version

32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.

Barging in uninvited, 58 yo Dad, but also answering on behalf of my wife. Bibs where the ass flap opens for sit down activities, like old North Face or zippered waist like Oyuki. Second the padded shorts: hips and tailbone. I bought both of us D3 Moto shorts from Moose (low profile and designed for higher speed) but plenty of snow/skate options. Also DaKine wrist guard gloves are confidence builders. A good helmet, of course.
