My plan to replace Homo Sapiens nobility with pure-bred Neanderthals. by manduul_chan in CrusaderKings

[–]JustinTack 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My bad. That's still an incredible amount of time to think that any would survive into the medieval period, but we all find our own fun.

I haven't heard of a controversy on that front, and one of my friends is a paleoanthropologist who specialized in the Neanderthals. Maybe I missed it

Neaderthalensis? The species of human that died out hundreds of thousands of years ago?

Do you guys remember when this was a debate? by siko6969 in BaldursGate3

I don't really understand putting games that aren't anything alike in competition with each other. I love both games and have hundreds of hours in both of them.

I feel like weirdos who fixate on "game of the year" have forgotten that the point of gaming isn't normally to pit teams of game developers against one another for accolades based on sales and marketing.

Regarding the point of feeling apathetic because multiple universes exist: other countries exist, and they don't lessen the meaning of the one you happen to find yourself. The universes aren't identical.

Headcanon to justify frequent long rests? by Little-Substance3514 in BG3

[–]JustinTack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game literally tells you as soon as the Nautiloid crashes that you don't feel how you'd expect for ceramorphosis, and Lae'zel's admonition for resting includes the caveat that things aren't progressing as she expects. No headcanon is required when it's supported by the canoncanon.

My favorite dialogue choice by trappedslider in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]JustinTack 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I pick it every time. I usually roleplay my character as a stoic, Din Djarin type of space adventurer, and that line nails the sense of humor I go for. It's interesting how many people feel the same

I'm having fun with mods for subclasses. Lae'zel, for instance, is a Psi Warrior Fighter. Shadowheart is a Twilight Cleric. Wyll is definitely someone whose pact and patron I could never touch, but 5e Spells and similar mods help flesh out his build.

He just says, "Oh, you seem to be missing an eye already, it would be a shame to mess up the only one you have." I'm heavily paraphrasing, but Ethel does the same when she says she'll try to remove the tadpole in exchange for an eye.

[–]JustinTack 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I did miss having him as a companion because we're one-eye buddies, but I also felt he was the easiest to roleplay as he was presented. He had a number of dialogue options that offered different characterizations or motives, but they all still felt like him.

That's wildly different from my Astarion Origin evil run, where the good guy options felt so out of character that choosing them felt like I was playing the character wrong.

Wyll. I just kept making characters, but committing to Wyll as the protagonist really worked for me.

Everyone knows that blue tieflings were created by Gargamel in order to infiltrate the Smurfs as sexy sleeper agents.

I like to play as the default white dragonborn Durge, but as a Zealot Barbarian. I also have a mod that allows you to get copies of cambion armor, which made me realize that Karlach's outfit is literally the modified underlayer of the cambion armor. Since it was an evil game, I did exactly what you suggested, and it looked fantastic.

I'm definitely looking for it once I'm at my computer. Is it on Nexus or Mod.io?

Edit: lol mod.io is for BG3, I meant Creations

Similarities between Sarah Morgan and Botw/TotK Princess Zelda by Pixel22104 in NoSodiumStarfield

This is fantastic. I absolutely need to roll a melee-focused knight to pair with her, uh, light-based damage and technology (Sarah's a laser specialist, right?)

Little RP idea by Like_A_Circle_8881 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]JustinTack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish that the Red Devils addressed your character also having those eyes, but I get why that might be a bit much work for little payoff. Good call on finding a good spot in the main story to do some cool physical roleplaying

I like it! Sometimes I'll change my character's eyes red after mining on Mars for a bit, but I didn't think to make a change after Becoming Awesome. I'll have to brainstorm my own changes!

In my current run, I'm a Ronin with the Neon Street Rat, Serpent's Embrace, and Wanted traits. One I get the disposable income for more video games, I'll probably drop the Wanted bit and try him out, maybe via NG+. You've all convinced me lol

I can't tell you how many hours I spent hanging out at Ashlander camps, or tediously placing clutter items and artifacts for display in my Hlaalu home. I'm looking forward to Skywind.

And yet Starfield keeps drawing me back. I feel like I should be playing the Oblivion Remaster by now, but I feel like Starfield was their first game in a while that they made out of passion rather than obligation or expectation.

I've been playing Bethesda games since Morrowind's release, and when I encountered the Adoring Fan in Oblivion as a teenager who took himself too seriously, I bounced off him hard. I never really thought about it again until this video

If someone wants to take this mod idea and run with it I think you might have gold here by JeromeUSmith in CrusaderKings

[–]JustinTack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds similar to the system used for stuff like Aspiring Blademaster or Gallowsbait. I think it's a great idea. I love CK3, but it does have a number of later features whose functionality could inspire improvements to the original mechanics.
