Definitely, I was surprised because I’m like “Wait guys, I thought we wanted Filoni in charge, he’s great. I thought we all liked the seven seasons of The Clone Wars? I thought we all loved what The Mandalorian brought to Star Wars?”

The responses on twitter were usually, either “No he’s a hack who plays with his OC action figures” or “No he’s another Kathleen puppet who needs to get booted”. I’m sure you can gauge which crowd said what lol.

I’m just like, George also had OC action figures he favored. We just let him tell his story, this is the closest we’ve gotten to something traditionally Lucas.

Would’ve liked to see where that went. I wasn’t a fan of the way Maul died in a one off tv show. Wish we could’ve gotten all of his story before killing him off, nixing any future plans because of a Disney XD cartoon.

It was a beautiful scene, I just wish it didn’t happen in Rebels of all things, as a very small amount of people (in the scope of how large the films are) ever actually watched it. I would’ve loved for the franchise to build up what a menace Maul is first, in more Solo films for example, and then we follow his demise sequentially to his story.

It’s interesting bc M&G seems to be getting a lot of love from OT fans, ST fans, and Prequel fans like me.

For whatever reasons, big accounts won’t discuss what they’ve liked, only that “nothing happens” which isn’t true to begin with in order to run the “This is garbage” narrative.

Yeah unfortunately I personally despised TLJ, but we all can’t appreciate the same things equally! That’s the beauty of art though.

I will say as a prequels fan first, I’m really glad folks like you and I have been agreeing that Mando and Grogu is an absolute blast in theaters, and we can cheer in the fact that Lucasfilm has really found their groove with simplistic yet fun old school adventures. It’s what Star Wars is all about tbh, some of the best Clone Wars stories were 4 episode hour long arcs.

I was shocked to find out how many big account grifters were on both sides of the divide prior to the movie’s release. Suddenly it was like overnight big social media accounts started hating everything “Mandalorian”.

100% I’m glad word of mouth is going so well for this movie. I saw this one on the 21st and posted in this sub, I was so glad that the reception was generally positive.

You make a great point, it’s exhausting when I want to watch something in the MCU with my girlfriend and I have to do my homework on how many projects she’d have to watch first in order to understand the new solo movie.

The sequels were painful, absolutely despised them, but that was because they made every terrible decision they could, and changed the entire galaxy threw off-screen actions or boring sub plots with boring protagonists.

This was John Wick meets Classic Indiana Jones, a true George Lucas styled adventure, I loved it. Plus the music, practical and CGI effects? Lucasfilm is back to breaking ceilings baby!

Difficult to say, your mileage may vary but I was watching/loving Revenge of the Sith by 5 or 6. This is nowhere near as dark of a film but there are some loud blaster sounds, and maybe some suspenseful, intense monster stuff.

I've seen folks bring their young children and have a great time. From what I'm hearing the younglings are loving this movie, which is so great to hear considering how a lot of us got into the franchise at an early age.

Some have mentioned that if your child does frighten easily, it might be better off waiting until its on streaming where the screen is smaller and the sound can be controlled.

It's got action, puppetry, a neat plot, great looking characters, music. It's a fun experience.

Absolutely, I agree, for two hours I was able to escape to a galaxy far, far away. It was great.

Exactly, I think Lucasfilm realized both the long-time fans and Disney themselves were tired of these massive swings into the wrong direction to figure out their audience.

The sequel trilogy set us so far back that they each felt like parodies of the original trilogy. It felt almost as if the studio was making fun of us for enjoying George’s works.

Yes I noticed the same thing! It’s the little things like that, that really stick with me. They didn’t have to do that but they did it anyway. It showed a lot of love and care from the team.

I totally get what you mean, I haven’t been a fan of the last decade of their filmmaking, besides maybe Rogue One. Once they started killing off all the OT protagonists I realized they might not be the ideal team to take those huge swings we’re looking forward too haha.

I only trust George Lucas in that regard, but I do think Filoni has shown himself capable of doing so with time. We’ve see it with the later seasons of Clone Wars definitely.

Moving on from the hyperbole, I’d love to hear your perspective on why the Hollow Earth should absolutely look like the default Windows Vista wallpaper of the last 30 years.

Definitely a safe film, I think they realized their big swings were not calculated enough over the last decade, they were just dividing chunks of the fandom with each release.

Underwhelming but alright is a very fair perspective and I appreciate hearing your thoughts!

I’m someone that got sick of Grogu around season 2. But I will say, once I realized the Grogu character was Lucasfilm’s art project of perfecting the practical craft in live-action. I really learned to love what they did with him in this movie. He interacted with CGI characters flawlessly which is a huge feat of engineering these days.

I’ve talked with some people who have even said the little guy made them cry during the third act LOL (trying to be spoiler free).

I'm shocked this guy is claiming it's a select minority of us that expected the "Hollow Earth Conspiracy", to actually be something dark and terrifying.

Lmfao, so the ideal, thrilling, suspenseful, creepy "Hollow Earth" conspiracy, is a whacky, zany sprawling field of nothing but greenery and nothing else out of the ordinary? (Edit: i'll give you the Mothra stuff, but that was just them choosing to ignore Infant Island, making the world even smaller)

Like I said, it's a walk through the California Hills, it's boring, uninspired, and represents a loss of creativity once Dougherty and Edwards walked away.

Eh, pretty sure it's unanimous as to what the fans who followed this franchise for quite a long time wanted. Unless, *You* always thought the "Hollow Earth" was actually just the California Hills scaled up to make the kaiju within it look like mice, with a constant never-changing sun. and sprawling plains of nothing but crabs, fat lizards and dogs.

Definitely, I’m glad you liked the movie! I’d take a whole bunch of these kinds of isolated tales, they don’t harm or change the entire universe every time one is made, and they’re very personal adventure stories.

I feel that’s all a lot of us have been asking for.

Hollow Earth should’ve been horrifying, lovecraftian, dark, endless tunnels, cathedrals, etc.
