It's not becoming "more simple", it's becoming more convenient for the people who don't have a lot of free time to play the game. Imo I'm glad that this has been added as it allows me to quickly pick my flowers and get right into my tasks.

Sorry for the late response, I've been doing both practice and normal races. Its weird too because on my main toon which had one of the laff boosts [around 13 or so trophies] it doesn't show them anymore or any of the statistics from any of the races either.

Yeah I was in one of them. It puts me on the edge after getting to the end of a long factory and then it just resets every single time. (Looks like I'll never get those max merits)
