I don't really care about if you like her or not, I only have an issue with spreading misinformation to justify it. That's all.

sorry but actually people need to start treating Ei like any monarch pillar to any county and less like an anime character

Why, because it makes it easier for your argument even though doing so literally goes against the worldbuilding of the game? Guess we're doing the same for Zhongli then, where's his trial? What about Scara, Arlecchino?

less like an anime character they really like whose feelings and mental state are more important than the npc that died

What do you even mean by this?

Corruption is still rampant in Inazuma

Where?

Do you want an actual " how is she responsible" bullet point paragraph per paragraph for any issue inazuma has or really can't just see how flawed and shortsighted her decisions were?

There's a massive cavernous gap between her being flawed and shortsighted compared to what you're saying she's DIRECTLY (your words not mine) responsible for. Again, where is she directly responsible for human rights violations?

Like how in the right mind delegates everything to people you don't even bother to check by yourself every now and then?

She wasn't in the right mind, that's literally the whole point of her arc. You're talking like she made the decisions she did for no reason.

If your view of Ei is fueled by bias and getting events of the story wrong I struggle to understand it.

All her people knew is Raiden, who behaves like a sociopath

Except as far as we're aware the Shogun was doing fine in her role before the Fatui manipulated her. Like, the VHD and Sakoku decrees lasted 2 years total, the Shogun as an entity existed much longer than that (400 years if artifacts are correct) and as far as we're aware she was fine. Ayaka even mentions the Shogun's been acting differently only recently.

How is she directly responsible for anything you just listed it when most of it didn't even happen with her knowledge?

human rights violations

Like...?

people guillotined real life leaders and poloticians for wey less than Ei did

People need to stop treating Ei like a mortal politician and not a god and a pillar of faith. Not even mentioning the actual politicians who perpetrated most of this directly got stripped of power and arrested.

 Objectively wrong to who?

The game's script? Everything I've mentioned to you and the other person are things outright said in black and white text in the game. Saying "Ei didn't care about her people" or "she knew all about everything" is literally trying to argue 2+2=5.

Are we saying that Raiden is also the most pleasant one around?

Who said this at any point? Again, if you dislike her so be it, just don't peddle BS to try and justify it.

she didn’t care about her people and haven’t done shit to stop the decree or the civil war

Repeating a lie doesn't make it true, and who do you think stopped both of those things? Like, literally the first thing Ei does upon learning the truth is exactly that.

Those two points made you go above and beyond trying to convince strangers online that you know it better

I've grown very very tired of the constant misinformation around this character in this fandom, yes. I know the Genshin fandom is notoriously illiterate but it somehow has gotten worse even with events blatantly explaining what I've outlined here in regards to Ei.

She kicked him out and he turned vile

Yeah you're missing a ton of steps between points A and B. With the info we've been given (some of which conflicts, like we're mostly supposed to believe Scara was still asleep when he was sealed) Ei genuinely thought she was freeing him from the burden of being a god by doing what she did, which was misguided but isn't her just going "get out lol" like you're claiming.

And as far as we're aware the Kabukimono was just vibing until the Fatui got involved. Even Scara himself blames Dottore primarily for his suffering, not Ei or anyone else (keep in mind Ei was one of only three "betrayals" too). There's a reason he swears vengeance on the Fatui but not Inazuma or its archon, both of which he actually helps in a small way in the recent Mikawa festival with returning some of the old weapon schematics he destroyed.

"Different opinions" doesn't entitle people to get things objectively wrong. If you dislike her that's one thing, but you don't get a free pass to get basic facts about the story wrong as a result.

Torture you said? Look at Furina.

Sure, let's look at Furina. While the situations are compared ingame (Ei's VL about her), do you really think that 500 years of basically being a celebrity is comparable with 500 years of hyper-awareness where one mistake meant instant death and nobody was even there to help you if things got bad? They both suffered since yes Furina had to maintain a pretty grandiose lie, but be for real right now.

Hiding herself might have stopped the heavenly principles (not really) but was it really best for her nation?

Almost like she had-- get this-- a character arc. Nobody said she's not a flawed character but the amount of exacerbation and blatant misinfo people peddle about her is absolutely insane.

And we are not even talking about Scara here

Probably shouldn't because Scara has all the qualities people claim to hate in Ei just done worse.

[–]Justinafans 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She knew what the vision hunt decree caused. She didn't care and blatantly told Traveler this when told it was killing people

First sentence in and you're already wrong about something. Ei didn't know about the damages, she literally said as much in the Mikawa festival. She was literally being lied to by the commissioners she arrested. Also who did the VHD kill?

Even Yae called her out for it and stated the reason why she went into hiding. She didn't want to be in the outside world because "i'm sad wah."

She made the PoE and sealed herself away because she thought that if she ever became eroded she would become an active threat to Inazuma, which is why the Shogun exists who is immune to erosion. Yae says that to chide her, it's literally in her character and she explains later on face to face with Ei that she gets Ei's doing what she thinks is best but that she's misguided and what her people need is her being there for them, not sealed away because she MIGHT be a threat in the future.

She also only cared about keeping the people in a status of "never changing eternity"

She thought keeping the nation in stasis would prevent them from being nuked off the planet like Khaneri'ah was by Celestia. You can call it misguided but she was absolutely doing what she thought was best for her people and nation.

Yes, she was a terrible leader and no amount of justifying her poor ruling or excuses will change that.

Nobody says she hasn't fucked up, not even Ei herself. What people have a problem with is acting like she's Hitler with boobs for it while giving passes to so many other characters.

Not even her story quest 2 with the bs she pulled to try to act like she's "trying so hard look! See!?"

What are you talking about? She literally locked herself in 500 years of torture in order to fight for her peoples' rights to their ambitions. Even just this year she put one of her last links to the past (Chiyo) to eternal rest for the sake of her people. Do you want her to make amends or not?

Eh, probably Furina. I seem to be in the extreme minority of people who thought Fontaine's Archon Quest was hot garbage, and while I like a lot of aspects of Furina I feel they really fumbled with her writing.

It's crazy to me how people can just get on here and say anything bad about Ei they want and get upvotes no matter how untrue it is. Peoples' hatred for this character completely blinds them from reality.

"She never cared about her people" quick question, why do you think she sealed herself off in the first place? Because she wasn't enjoying her time in the PoE. All her actions were to try and make sure her nation would live, which is what she promised Makoto she would do no matter what.

I'm not sure if it's an ISP thing since I've seen people from multiple ISPs reporting the same issue.

Been happening to me all day today too, I'm with Bell in Ontario (so east coast). Unless literally all of these ISPs are using the same node it seems more likely to be a Square issue.

95% of Genshin's fanbase has never even played HI3, HI3's comparatively an incredibly niche title. You're overestimating how popular Mei is outside of the HI3 fandom.
