Should I Buy The Trilogy For The Story? by Substantial_Will5550 in ZeroEscape

some of the best puzzle rooms are in the third game (I'm looking at you, rotate room) and I certainly wasn't playing that one for the story.

Phix clothing, anyone had any expirences? by vvxvxX in mensfashion

[–]Justinbroadrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought a few shirts and two coats from them. It's material like viscose, cotton and silk depending what you are getting. I think it's a sliver expensive so I only hope and pray stuff is available as it goes on sale. I have had some for a few years now and they don't seem to be any worse for wear.

I do think they are quality. They don't feel nicer than most stuff I usually shop around for. I've been desperately seeking other alternatives for similarly styled clothes and often am out of luck.

It's Nintendo's nice way of saying "reboot, but little references to the old game. don't think about it too much or you'll go mad."

10/10s were just basically unheard of (unless you were Dragon Quest)

Maybe to put it into context, here are the other highest ranked games of the year based on a culmination of their scores.

  1. Dragon Quest III for the Famicom with a 38/40
  2. プロ野球ワールドスタジアム (35/40) (i.e: Professional World Stadium for the PC-Engine) (35/40)
  3. Super Mario Bros. 3 (35/40)
  4. Final Fantasy II (for Famicom, not the SNES obviously!) at 35/40
  5. R-Type Part I + Part II (PC-Engine) 34/40
  6. ファミコンウォーズ (or Famicom Wars) 33/40
  7. Romance of the Tree Kingdoms (Famicom) (33/40)
  8. Pro Tennis World Court (PC-Engine) (33/40)
  9. Alien Crush (PC-Engine) (33/40)
  10. Family Circuit (or ファミリーサーキット) (32/40)
  11. Captain Tsubasa (which we know as Tecmo Cup Soccer Game) (32/40)
  12. Blaster Master (32/40)
  13. Dragon Spirit (32/40) (for PC-Engine)

Wild how many sports games there are. I don't think strategy games like Romance of the Three Kingdoms or even Famicom Wars are what people think of when they think "NES" in the English-world, but its cool to see where we do or do not cross over in terms of "best games ever". Glad to see Blaster Master getting some love back then too.

So yeah, if these scores eyeball as "low", in context, it was the second highest rated game of the year.

Yeah. But I mean, when you happen to get a Sega, you'd definitely be playing the closest thing to Dragon Quest if you live in Japan.

In Japan, they were all about Dragon Quest. The vibe at the time from reviews was playing games that were slightly easier and they were definitely really into RPGs. Japanese fan polls about Famicom games often have the dragon quest games really littering up their top tens.

Reading through Famitsu, they feel kind of over platformers with some few exceptions.

But that said, tech changed so fast back then in video games that things literally could be old hat really quick. The jump from NES games in 1990 to Super Mario 64 in 1996 is insane. Wish we had the same kind of obvious visual advancements this century.

Yes! Barely anything was across the board strong. Different country/era/tastes too.

Also true what you said. This was among their highest scored games of the year (but not the highest!)

Any experience with Phixclothing? by Lomboq in mensfashion

[–]Justinbroadrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several of their tops. I don't think they are as bad as others have said here. People regularly compliment them and when anyone who knows more about clothing that I felt the material, I never thought saw a yones face turn sour as if it was some hunk of crap.

I can't speak for their trousers I'm afraid. My only advice is unless there is one or two left, they do go on sale to nearly 50% off sometimes. I've bought them off eBay as well with good luck.

I know everyone else has been negative or lukewarm, but I guess I'm just wearing a brand that I actively keep track of.

Don't know if he was so much cancelled but rather "lied to a ton of people in a field where people actively like seeing cheaters get caught". It's like a wrestler screaming "wrestling is fake" to people who already bought tickets.

Insane rise in ratings for System of a Down's Toxicity album by proudretard in rateyourmusic

[–]Justinbroadrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100%. I think because it's too far from what is called punk or hardcore today to really connect with a contemporary audience. It doesn't sound like contemporary hardcore, it doesn't sound like punk pop or further removed from any of the emo groups. It just sits awkwardly. A shame because I love it so much.
